Verdict

TAKE A BREAK was having his first start since April when finishing a creditable third over C&D late last month and he looks nicely treated in this sphere, having won off 2lb higher over hurdles last year. Little Stevie is fitted with first-time cheekpieces as he bids to build on his recent Perth fourth over 2m and has place possibilities, likewise Dark Invader, who struck off 5lb lower at Ffos last last month.

Verdict

DARK INVADER is progressing well over fences and this looks another good opportunity. Golden Vision was back on track last time and is feared most.

Dual winner over hurdles last season. Unsuited by the marked drop in trip on chasing bow at Huntingdon in November and not disgraced back over hurdles 3 weeks ago. Remains with potential over fences.

Verdict

JACKS LAST HOPE finished a five-length second over 2m4f at Hexham last time and found the trip on the sharp side, but he'd previously won over 3m at Perth so can be expected to step up on his last effort now granted this stiffer test. Scoop The Pot has won on the hurdles course here and is unexposed as a chaser. He can fight it out with recent Cartmel scorer Souriyan, who steps up from 2m5f, for the silver medal.

Verdict

JACKS LAST HOPE has made a decent start to his chasing career and still has room for improvement based on his useful hurdles form. Scoop The Pot should find this distance more suitable back over fences and is the main danger.

Fair runs this season for new yard and his recent Uttoxeter second was just about his best effort. Up in the weights as a result, though.

Verdict

CHAMPAGNE EXPRESS has been off the track since striking at Cheltenham in April but if the market vibes are positive on his return then he rates the one to beat. A 5lb rise appears workable as he got the job done cosily last time, while he also now drops in grade. Beneagles has place claims if building on his 3m Ffos Las second last time and can fight it out with improving last-time-out C&D winner Sky Pirate, who has an 8lb rise to contend with, for the silver medal.

Verdict

CHAMPAGNE EXPRESS is very lightly raced for an 8-y-o and looked one to keep onside when scoring at Cheltenham in April, rallying well to lead run-in. The longer trip promises to be within range and he can come out on top. Sky Pirate is on the up and feared, whilst Saturday's Newton Abbot scorer Lord Topper is also respected.

Verdict

INTIFADAH kept on well at the finish when third over 2m at Uttoxeter earlier in the month and is expected to benefit from this step up in trip. His stable are in unstoppable form at the moment so he can add another winner to Dan Skelton's tally. Bisoubisou won off this mark at Fakenham in January (albeit on testing ground) and has place claims, while Phoenix Park, who is back from a spell between the flags, could feasibly take a hand.

Verdict

Hard to recommend the majority of these, but INTIFADAH is an exception as he will be winning races sooner rather than later for Dan Skelton, his latest third at Uttoxeter appealing as strong form for the grade. Bisoubisou is also in good hands and is back on her last successful mark, while Romeo Is Bleeding is worth a second look with his reappearance behind him.

Verdict

Alan King inmate PASSING CALL is rated 119 on official figures and sets the form bar for the rest to aim for. She was unlucky to finish second at Newton Abbot last time after being hampered by a loose horse on the run-in and she can gain deserved compensation this afternoon. She gets the verdict ahead of Green Or Black and the unexposed Admiral's Sunset, both of whom also ran encouragingly at Newton Abbot latest.

Verdict

PASSING CALL sets a solid standard and she's taken to finally break her duck over hurdles. Green Or Black is sure to be in the mix again, while Admiral’s Sunset should continue to progress.

Verdict

THE DEVILS DROP landed a maiden hurdle at Southwell on his first start since undergoing wind surgery and is expected to follow up under a penalty over a similar distance this evening. Cuirassier Dempire has been in rude health in winning back-to-back races over fences and commands plenty of respect now sent back over timber, likewise Bugsie Malone, who has similarly enjoyed a recent productive spell over the larger obstacles.

Verdict

BUGSIE MALONE is a 3-time winner over fences who hasn't had much racing over the smaller obstacles but should take to these Fixed Brush hurdles. He can strike from the penalised The Devils Drop and returning Cuirassier Dempire.

Successful handicap hurdler/chaser for David Pipe but showed nothing for Andrew Reid in 2016 and off the track for over 2 years.

Verdict

G FOR GINGER landed a C&D maiden hurdle last year and looked on good terms with herself when bolting up by eight lengths at Uttoxeter last time. Anthony Honeyball's eight-year-old was having her first outing since undergoing wind surgery on that occasion, so there may be further improvement to come as she runs under a penalty. The consistent Mercian King and returning Miss Spent, whose yard are in great form, are others to consider.

Verdict

MISS SPENT has a good record fresh and her yard couldn't be in better form as she returns from 8 months off. She is narrowly preferred to last week's easy Uttoxeter winner G For Ginger.
