Good second here (2m) last month but just respectable fourth at Towcester since.

Verdict

Course-and-distance winner THOONAVOLLA was a handy second at Ffos Las last month when six lengths adrift of Leg Lock Luke, and Tom Weston's 10-year-old is backed to go one better now back down in trip from the same mark. Point-to-point winner Mason Dixon went very close on his debut for Tim Vaughan and must be considered here, along with Overtoujay and Heurtevent.

Verdict

THOONAVOLLA was given too much to do at Ffos Las last time and is capable of winning off his current mark. Mason Dixon and Native Gamut are feared most.

Shaped well after a wind op and 7 months off when second over hurdles at Ludlow (2m) in April. Hasn't built on that twice since but does retain potential as a chaser (lower mark in this sphere).

Verdict

CURIOUS CARLOS has made a bright start to life over the larger obstacles, scoring twice in novice contests, and can land the hat-trick now up in trip on his handicap bow in this sphere. Voix D'Eau can improve on his recent Stratford third from a 2lb lower mark, while course winner Newton Geronimo and Nicky Henderson's Towcester hurdles scorer Ballinure are others who are sure to be thereabouts.

Verdict

This is undoubtedly tougher than the novices CURIOUS CARLOS has won in recent weeks but he likely has more to come and can still stretch his unbeaten record in this sphere to 3. Action Replay shaped quite nicely on his Ffos Las return and is another who is open to improvement, while Ballinure arrives on the back of a reappearance win over hurdles.

Didn't progress as expected for Mark Walford and no more than modest form upon joining present stable this year. Others preferred.

Verdict

Course-and-distance winner DESTINY'S GOLD reverts to hurdles having run with credit here last time when fourth over fences. Charlie Hammond's 5lb allowance should nullify the majority of the weight he has to concede to his rivals, and the drop back to 2m4f should suit. Cliffside Park is interesting following a break and has gone well fresh in the past so he looks the chief danger, with course second Northandsouth attempting to build on that effort now he steps up in distance and switches to timber.

Verdict

Dr Richard Newland's DESTINY'S GOLD is a classy sort for this level and is preferred to the returning Cliffside Park in what could easily develop into a straight fight between the pair.

Appeared to benefit from first-time cheekpieces when off the mark in 11-runner handicap at Bangor (19.6f) 19 days ago, pushed out. This is much tougher, but he looks on the up.

Verdict

LITTERALE CI arrives in fantastic form having struck up an excellent rapport with Aine O'Connor, who has won three from four on the mare. She seemed to appreciate the step up in trip on her most recent start at Ffos Las and there could be scope for further improvement. Psychedelic Rock will find this an easier assignment than his last outing at Sandown, while Whatzdjazz looks best of the remainder on her recent efforts.

Verdict

LITTERALE CI is on a progressive path, and with the possibility of a bit more to come, she may well be up to completing the hat-trick. Zubayr hasn't won over hurdles for a long time, but is one to be interested in from this mark, with Whatzdjazz and Voodoo Doll others to consider.

Verdict

STUCCODOR comes into this having won his last two outings at Huntingdon, improving 20lb in the ratings as a result. There is the potential for more to come over timber and he can land the hat-trick here. The Twisler was disappointing when behind Humphrey Bogart at Huntingdon but is respected on his handicap debut, while Cosmic King can improve again off a 6lb higher mark than when successful last time.

Verdict

COSMIC KING, Stuccodor and Stole The Show are all improving for their new yards and in any other race would have standout claims. As it happens, this looks highly competitive for the grade so, the first-named, by virtue of the visual impression he created last time, gets the vote in what should be an enthralling race to watch.

Maiden who wasn't disgraced after 7 months off at Towcester (2m), sticking to her task once headed. Could build on that.

Verdict

SCOTSBROOK NIGHT has been performing with credit since returning from a winter break and she can take a further step forward here, with the booking of Richard Johnson a positive one. Celestial Path has first-time blinkers, which could potentially sharpen him up as he has the ability to prove a lot better than his mark, while Sprogzilla can go well after a good effort at Towcester.

Verdict

SCOTSBROOK NIGHT has returned in good form and can gain a deserved success. Executive Prince is on a tempting mark if retaining ability after 20 months off, while Hatem has it in him to win a race in this sphere as his mark drops.

Little impact in bumpers/over hurdles though his mark is falling. Cheekpieces back on and tongue tie added.

Verdict

SPADER failed to justify favouritism at Huntingdon but is expected to take a forward step now sporting first-time cheekpieces. Cor Wot An Apple can step up on his comeback effort when fifth at Fontwell and could play a supporting role, and there could also be a big run on the cards from Bee An Aristocrat if he can recapture the form he showed when second at Newton Abbot on his penultimate outing.

Verdict

SPADER can get back on track having had excuses last time as he'd won in good style at Southwell before that. Udogo could be capable of a better effort in this sphere now fitted with cheekpieces. Cor Wot An Apple is another who lurks on a tempting mark.
