Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute's GABR was sent off favourite in the Convivial Stakes at York, finding only one to good, and the Intello colt can land a first victory at the third attempt here. Ryan Moore does the steering aboard Istanbul Sultan who can build on his debut fifth, while Bowditch is respected, with the Nathaniel colt representing top connections.

Verdict

GABR was unlucky to bump into a well-above-average newcomer when runner-up at York 4 weeks ago, yet that was still an improvement on his debut effort and he can make it third time lucky. Both Istanbul Sultan and Bowditch arrive with plenty of untapped potential and can give the selection most to do.

Verdict

A pair of newcomers for Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum look to hold leading claims here with William Haggas' 280,000 guineas Book One purchase BEAUTY FILLY backed to get the better of the Reckless Abandon filly Left Alone, wearing the first colours for Hugo Palmer. Windsor winner Flying Sparkle is best of those with racecourse experience and she was an eye-catching performer under Hayley Spencer that day, while Angel of The South won't lack for experience.

Verdict

FLYING SPARKLE showed plenty when beating 15 others on debut at Windsor in July and is taken to defy a penalty back from a break, though newcomers Beauty Filly, Bidding War and Left Alone need keeping an eye on.

Went close again fitted with a visor in a Haydock minor event (6f) earlier this month, conceding first run. Blinkers now the headgear of choice and she remains with potential intact.

Verdict

Central City got off the mark on the Wolverhampton sand last time and has to be respected having looked a reformed character since having a gelding procedure. New Empire wasn't far away last time at Goodwood at long odds and the cat may be out the bag now about his ability but it is hard to see past the blinkered first-time FOREVER IN LOVE who has been knocking on the door of late and looks a winner in waiting.

Verdict

It's feasible to think the drop back to sprinting will suit ROYAL HOUSEHOLD, particularly given he shaped like the best horse over 7f at Goodwood last month prior to tiring late in the day. He gets the narrow vote, with Forever in Love and Fighting Irish others to consider in a competitive nursery.

Verdict

It catches the eye that Ryan Moore is booked by top National Hunt trainer Jonjo O'Neill aboard Bath winner DESERT CROSS, who could have more to come off just 3lb higher. He has the hat-trick seeking Hope Is High to beat with the track winner trying this trip for the first time under regular rider Silvestre De Sousa who gets a top tune from the daughter of Sir Percy. Innoko was a neck behind the selection when they last week and is shortlisted, while Goodwood winner Delannoy could benefit for Darragh Keenan removing 7lb from his back.

Verdict

DESERT CROSS resumed winning ways with a bit up his sleeve at Bath last time and is sure to go well again with Ryan Moore an eye-catching booking. Hat-trick-seeking Hope Is High is the obvious threat, with Eben Dubai best of the others.

Twice winner last season, who has progressed this year without scoring. Left in a less-than-ideal position when upped in trip last week and can’t be dismissed here.

Verdict

Mick Quinn's GREAT HALL looks to have a great chance of landing the hat-trick here having looked strong at the finish in his two Ascot triumphs. He has a step up in trip to contend with here, but has shaped like a stayer and is backed to be just as effective over this longer trip. Alqamar was in behind on the second of those occasions and he must also be considered and still looks a horse full of potential. Zenon is a strong travelling type who could be helped by the application of blinkers and the added bonus of Ryan Moore in the saddle, while William Hunter is a consistent performer for Alan King who is sure to hit the frame.

Verdict

ZENON was too lit up early to give his running at Goodwood last time, but noteworthy was the fact that connections pitched him into a strong listed event, which suggests he’s clearly well thought about at home. He can make amends reverting back to handicap company. William Hunter leaves the impression that he will be suited by this step up in trip, while Theydon Grey may not be done improving.

Hasn’t kicked on from her good start to the season. Again ran below form at Brighton last time and others appeal more at present.

Verdict

SO SLEEK has taken a fair step forward since winning a maiden two starts ago at Lingfield, following up in a handicap at Salisbury last month, and this half-sister to Group 2 winner Silk Sari can continue the winning sequence. Sea Tide, like the selection, took a while to get off the mark but this daughter of Champs Elysees is entitled to improve for a step up in distance, while Bonnie Arlene is capable of a return to form having finished down the field at Kempton.

Verdict

VERNATTI’s mark has now eased following two below-par efforts, and she is taken to overcome a sticky patch. So Sleek’s confidence will be sky high after back-to-back wins and has to be taken seriously in seek of her hat-trick, while Jive Talking would be a big player if bouncing back.

Successful twice from 3 juvenile outings, but only matched that form once so far this term, and is more exposed than most in this line-up.

Verdict

MARATHA looked a non-stayer when tackling 1m2f again at Newmarket on his latest start but the son of Cape Cross can take full advantage of a return to a mile having won at the trip at Nottingham in July. Hugin found a tactical race against Rodaini at Ripon too hot to handle but a return to handicap company can elicit further improvement, while Mazyoun could appreciate this smaller field despite having a few quirks.

Verdict

HUGIN didn't have the chance the market suggested when 5/2-on in minor company last time, so that defeat wasn't a poor run by any means, and the impression he created when scoring at Beverley prior to that suggests he can win off this mark. Mazyoun hasn't been seen to best effect the last twice, shaping as if still in top form, so rates the biggest threat.

Quickened away nicely when making a successful handicap debut over C&D last month and improved again when a keeping-on second under a penalty over 1m at Kempton 16 days ago. Big player.

Verdict

BIG TOUR has been in good form throughout the year and the son of Dubawi comes here having won nicely at Chelmsford on his last start. Saeed bin Suroor's string are mostly running well and he appeals as the type to continue progressing. Noble Masterpiece won over C&D two starts ago and will appreciate drying ground, while Mountain Rescue completes the shortlist in a weaker race than he encountered at Newbury.

Verdict

BIG TOUR looked a natural on his first go at 7f when successful at Chelmsford 19 days ago, and now connections have found his optimum trip, this well-bred 3-y-o could really take off. Noble Masterpiece is improving fast and is the obvious danger.
