Verdict

FASTMAN ran well under a penalty when second to Three Card Trick over C&D last month and reopposes that rival on 5lb better terms in this handicap. The selection battled on well to score at Ripon last time and is improving with each outing. Richard Hannon's Enchanted Linda is expected to show up well under Silvestre De Sousa, while Blyton and Concierge are closely matched on their Haydock encounter and could also figure.

Verdict

ENCHANTED LINDA is clearly going the right way and showed a good attitude when defying a penalty at Beverley last month. She could have more in the locker yet and is taken to continue her winning run. Three Card Trick and Blyton head the list of dangers.

Solid efforts in defeat in recent starts, latest when fifth of 9 to Alemaratalyoum in handicap at Haydock (8.2f, good to firm) 13 days ago. More required to figure here, though.

Verdict

Uae Prince kept on well to finish fifth in the Cambridgeshire last month and could be putting in his best work in the closing stages over 1m here. Narrow preference, however, is for CHATEZ, who is expected to build on a fair reappearance effort behind Waarif at Ayr last month - his first outing since December. Yuften is lightly-raced for his new stable and open to improvement, while recent Haydock scorer Alemaratalyoum is also shortlisted.

Verdict

ALEMARATALYOUM has continued to progress for Iain Jardine this term and scored a shade more comfortably than the short-head verdict suggests at Haydock last time. He can follow up here. UAE Prince and Breanski rate the principal dangers.

Promising individual. 9/2, fifth of 11 in maiden at Kempton (6f) 11 days ago. Should improve.

Verdict

Spell shaped with lots of promise on her first couple of starts, including when fifth in a C&D Listed event, and she is entitled to come on for her run at Kempton earlier this month, while Broken Spear has some smart form to his name but won't find life easy off top weight. Exalted Angel and Skeetah also merit consideration, but the vote goes to ANGEL ALEXANDER, who only found the well regarded Wise Counsel too good on debut at Haydock and will prove tough to beat with normal improvement.

Verdict

ANGEL ALEXANDER ran to a high level first-time out when second to a useful sort at Haydock 2 weeks ago, finishing clear of the rest, and can go one better with improvement on the cards. Skeetah and Exalted Angel both went close on their debut and are feared most.

Latest win at Chester in July. Not seen to best effect in at Musselburgh last time, but this will be tough from out of the weights.

Verdict

SURYA is a colt on a steep upward curve, impressing with three victories since late June. A further 5lb rise will obviously make life tougher, but he remains open to greater improvement and is fancied to extend his winning sequence. Canford Heights has won his last couple of starts by an aggregate of just over 12 lengths and an 8lb hike for dotting up on his handicap debut at Haydock seems fair. He should go close, while Almoghared and the Melrose third Proschema are others to note.

Verdict

SURYA has looked streets ahead of the handicapper of late, again having plenty to spare after powering through the race at Haydock last time, so there's no obvious reason to oppose him here. Hat-trick seekers Canford Heights and Astromachia look the main dangers.

Finished well to get off the mark for the season at Salisbury in August before finding life much tougher off higher mark. Good fifth at Haydock recently but hard to fancy from out of the weights.

Verdict

Tim Easterby took this in 2017 and his defending champion, EAST STREET REVUE, makes most appeal of his quintet of contenders today. Duran Fentiman's mount rattled the crossbar at Ripon lately and lines up here off a mark 4lb lower than when successful in this last season. Silvestre De Sousa is an eye-catching jockey booking on the consistent Henley, while C&D winner Holmeswood, Iconic Knight and William Haggas' Island Of Life, making her first start since a wind operation, complete the shortlist.

Verdict

ICONIC KNIGHT would have probably gone in again with a clear run at Goodwood last time and, given his recent rate of progression, there's probably an even bigger effort in him. Provided there's a strong gallop he's bound to be in the shake-up along with Island of Life, while Holmeswood is a big player if the race doesn't come too soon.
