Verdict

As always in two-year old contests at this venue, Richard Fahey's runners need to be given serious consideration and he is mob handed here with Zap, Guzman and C&D winner International Man. However, it may be best to focus on the hat-trick seekers with Tom Dascombe's GINBAR narrowly preferred to Ann Duffield's Canford's Joy, who is sure to have plenty of local support. Collingham Park was third behind the selection at Chester and he is another to consider who may be under the radar.

Verdict

ROUNDHAY PARK impressed with how he went about his business when adding to his tally at Bath last month, suggesting he will more than hold his own in this higher grade. He is the choice to follow up, though Chester-scorer Ginbar, Captain Jameson and Kyllachy Dragon are others worthy of consideration.

Won at Ripon in June but well held the last twice and it's easy to look elsewhere from 5 lb out of the weights.

Verdict

ZABEEL PRINCE has shown a good level of form in his three starts to date and won convincingly on his handicap debut at Yarmouth. The son of Lope De Vega went up 10lb for that success but he looks potentially a pattern performer in the making. Cote D'Azur's third in the Cambridgeshire reads well in the context of this event and he is respected, along with Home Cummins and Baraweez.

Verdict

Unusually for a big-field handicap at a top track, there is a stand out performer in the shape of ZABEEL PRINCE, and he could well end up a Group performer next year if standing training. Having returned to form at Ascot last week, One Word More is well treated back in a handicap and is feared most, with Baraweez completing the shortlist.

Verdict

MIDSUMMER KNIGHT faced a very tough task in Group 2 company last time but his form in novice races prior to that gives the son of Dream Ahead a big shout this afternoon. Machree outran odds of 50/1 to finish third on her debut at Ripon in August and she may improve for that first racecourse experience. Others to consider are Awesome, Harrogate, Makanah and Militia.

Verdict

MILITIA has essentially made a positive start to his career and was guilty of doing too much too soon at Pontefract 3 weeks ago. He's worth another chance with Hanagan taking over in the saddle. Machree also caught the eye on her latest start and is fancied to be thereabouts, as is Harrogate.

Reacted well to forceful ride when opening account in the mud in class 5 Haydock handicap a fortnight ago. Longer trip will suit but this is a big step up in class.

Verdict

Face The Facts sets a fair standard having won a Listed race at Newmarket when last sighted while The Grand Visir was not beaten far at all in the Melrose over this course and distance back in August. STAR ROCK beat a subsequent Group 3 winner in a maiden two starts ago and arrives having won a very strong fillies' handicap last month. She was staying on well over 1m4f on that occasion so this longer trip is unlikely to pose any problems.

Verdict

A red-hot 3-y-o stayers' handicap that can go to THE GRAND VISIR, fifth off this mark in the Melrose here last time, a race that is working out well. Gold Star gets better and better for Godolphin and is a big player along with Star Rock.
