Verdict

HAYADH was touched off by a neck over 1m at Wetherby last time and could improve for this drop back in trip. A 2lb rise for scoring at Doncaster is unlikely to prevent Salateen from mounting a bold bid, while there could be a big run from C&D winner So Beloved now he is eased back into handicap company for the same stable. The pick of the remainder may be Absolutely So, who is entitled to come on for his reappearance outing at HQ.

Verdict

GILGAMESH did nothing but progress last year and may well continue on an upward curve this season judged on his eye-catching effort in a big Ascot handicap 2 weeks ago. The 4-y-o is marginally preferred to Golden Apollo, who left the impression that stepping back up to this trip would suit when mid-field on his recent reappearance here. Hayadh and Salateen are live each-way players.

Fit from jumps, he went close back in this sphere at Nottingham (1¾m, soft) at the beginning of the month. This is more demanding, though, and not sure that dropping back in trip will be ideal.

Verdict

Across the Stars and Battersea are two top-class performers given a chance by the assessor at the head of the handicap, while at the bottom of the weights, Thistimenextyear is dangerous following his Nottingham second last time. However, a chance is taken on CARNAGEO, who scored at this track off 1lb higher last season, shaped well over C&D last time, and hails from the in-form Richard Fahey stable.

Verdict

ACROSS THE STARS wasn't disgraced in a stronger handicap than this at Newmarket last time and, 2 lb lower now, he could be the answer. Battersea is also lurking on a potentially handy mark and is a much-respected main danger, while Manjaam makes each-way appeal. Temple Church and Carnageo both have the form to figure but neither can be considered a guaranteed stayer.

Well held in French listed race on final run of 2017 but back on track when landing a Brighton handicap (9.9f, soft) on return. Remains unexposed and claims if coping with this faster ground.

Verdict

ISABEL DE URBINA returned to winning ways on her seasonal reappearance at Goodwood, when beating Titi Makfi, and the daughter of Lope De Vega is sure to be suited by the step up to 1m6f. Precious Ramotswe made a winning comeback in handicap company at Brighton and remains unexposed as she steps back up in trip. Mam'selle and Do Re Mi Fa Sol both have solid form in the book and are others to note.

Verdict

Assuming conditions do not pose a problem, PRECIOUS RAMOTSWE may well take this step up in class in her stride. She made it 3-4 with a thoroughly decisive victory on return at Brighton and remains a filly of considerable potential. Isabel de Urbina and Mam'selle, first and third respectively at Goodwood recently, are live dangers and Cribbs Causeway also merits respect.

Back in winning groove at Beverley (5f, good to firm) recently but this is much tougher and he's 2 lb 'wrong' at the weights.

Verdict

El Astronaute won a competitive sprint at the Dante meeting here and faces competition for the early lead from Final Venture, who is likely to be given a similarly aggressive ride from a nearby stall. Carlton Frankie was a big eyecatcher on her first run since a wind operation and looks fairly treated, but this can go to EDWARD LEWIS. Beaten just over two and a half lengths by El Astronaute recently, he's 4lb better off now.

Verdict

MAJOR JUMBO went down all guns blazing when a close third to El Astronaute over C&D recently and, 2 lb better off with that rival now, he is taken to come out on top this time. Carlton Frankie was just behind the selection on that occasion and she has to be feared, along with Duke of Firenze and Dakota Gold.

Shaped with plenty of encouragement when sixth in 11-runner minor event on debut at Ascot (5f, firm). Step up in trip will suit and improvement should be forthcoming.

Verdict

The standard is set by I Am A Dreamer after his victory here just over a week ago, but the 6lb penalty leaves him vulnerable. With that in mind, a chance can be taken on JFOUL, who is bred to be a useful two-year-old being by Zebedee, out of a Kodiac mare. Broken Spear and Showu should put their experience to good use, while Moyassar and Pacino are two others newcomers to note.

Verdict

Stepping up to 6f will suit SHOWU, who shaped well on her Ascot introduction and gets the nod. It will be interesting to see how the newcomers shape up in the betting, with Pacino and Moyassar the most likely-looking of them.

Showed ability at 2 yrs and has acquitted herself well in handicaps at Kempton and Nottingham in recent weeks. Going up in trip looks a good move and she's in with a shout.

Verdict

DESERT DIAMOND is a progressive filly and the way she won at Wolverhampton earlier in the month suggested that she should be capable of landing a race of this nature. Akvavera is another unexposed filly who may have more to offer following an encouraging seasonal return at Epsom. Shazzab is just one more to consider after a good run at Beverley a few weeks ago.

Verdict

DESERT DIAMOND did the job well when scoring at Wolverhampton and is likely to be seen in an even better light now upped in trip on this handicap debut. The switch to this more conventional track should suit Akvavera, who didn't look entirely at ease on Epsom's camber, and she is feared most ahead of Brexitmeansbrexit.
