Gary Moore Stable Tour

Top class chasers, both established and novices abound in Gary Moore's West Sussex stables and he's put together an insightful summary for many of his near to hand runners.

Last weekend may have been a case of being brought back down to earth for Gary Moore but Tingle Creek Chase weekend had seen the Horsham trainer flying high with three winners on the Friday and a further trio on the big day.

Highlight of that six-timer was the return to form of the 2014 Champion Chaser Sire De Grugy who netted his second Tingle Creek with a three quarter length victory from Special Tiara and there were further fireworks when Ar Mad ran his rivals ragged in the Grade 1 Henry VIII Novices' Chase.

Moore has the likes of Baron Alco, Mr Fickle and Voilet Dancer going forward and several other evergreens to ensure that another good season beckons.

Gary kindly spoke to Tony Elves of ATR about this in form team and his hopes for the coming months.

5 b g Walk In The Park - Melanie Du Chenet

Winner of two of 11 starts. Impressive eight lengths winner from Dancing Shadow off a mark of 120 in a novice handicap chase at Sandown (2m 4f) on his latest start this month. Currently rated 130 over fences.
"He ran in his first novices' chase at Sandown the other day and I was very pleased with his performance. He is now rated 130 over fences and he is a nice horse to follow. He jumped round there like he had been doing it all his life and he is a horse I like by the stallion of the future Walk In The Park. I could not think more highly of him really."

5 b g Tiger Groom - Omelia

Winner of three of his 10 races. Much improved efforts in last two starts at Sandown (1m 7 1/2f) beating Golden Doyen seven lengths in a novices's chase in November and following up with a 10 length victory from Bristol De Mai in the Grade 1 Henry VIII Novices' Chase this month. Currently rated 155 over fences.
"He is now rated the top two mile novice chaser in the country. His two runs over fences going right handed couldn't have been more impressive. He clocked a reasonably fast time when winning the Henry VIII Novices Chase and he is hopefully a horse with a bright future."

4 ch g Dom Alco - Paula

Winner of three of his 9 starts. Successful in handicap hurdles at Stratford (2m 2 1/2f) in October, beating Nesterenko two and a quarter lengths off a mark of 116, and Fontwell (2m 1 1/2f) in November, beating Mr Fitzroy three and a quarter lengths off a mark of 123. Currently rated 127 over hurdles.
"He is two from two this season over hurdles and he was going to run at Lingfield last Saturday but the ground was too bad so we took him out. He will now run on Boxing Day or the day after over two miles five over hurdles. His target would be the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton in January."

4 ch g Byzantium - Kauto Lorette

Winner of his only bumper in France in April 2014.
"He is a nice horse and he was very weak and backward last year. He did win a bumper in France very impressively and the form has worked out very well. He goes well but is not completely straightforward and will be best watched when he runs at Kempton on Boxing Day."

6 b g Proclamation - Another Secret

Winner of five of his 20 starts. Successful in two novices chases at Plumpton (2m 1f) last December. Unseated rider three out when favourite for a handicap chase at Fontwell (2m 1 1/2f) in October off current rating of 142.
"He was a very good horse for us last year and was running well in the Grand Annual when he fell through no fault of his own. He is not normally a bad jumper but first time out this year he was running well when unseating his rider. He probably got his legs crossed or something and he came down four strides after the fence. He injured his hock in the process and he has only just returned to training and hopefully he will be back January/February time. He will be a nice horse to follow."

6 b g Peintre Celebre - Blossom

Runner-up, beaten half a length to Wishing And Hoping on his hurdling debut at Ascot (1m 7 1/2f) in November before finishing unplaced at Huntingdon (1m 7 1/2f) ten days later.
"He came off the Flat and I couldn't have been more pleased with his first run at Ascot and I think I just ran him back too quick at Huntingdon. He was going so well at home but he probably wants three weeks between his races and we will give him a bit more time and hope he gives a better account of himself. I did think he was a half decent horse."

3 ch g It's Gino - Delightful Sofie

Winner of two of his four starts over hurdles. Scored by 11 lengths from Extreme Appeal in a juvenile hurdle at Fontwell (2m 1 1/2f) this month.
"He won the other day at Fontwell. It wasn't much of a race but he is better than that and with a 7lb penalty he couldn't have won any easier. I would be quite hopeful of him."

4 b g Galileo - Lady Karr

No wins from 9 starts. Runner-up in two bumpers at Lingfield and runner-up, beaten seven lengths, to Theo's Charm at Plumpton (2m) on Monday.
"He ran a sound race at Monday when second to the short-priced favourite Theo's Charm at Plumpton and is an unlucky horse as I can't believe he hasn't won a race yet. He goes well at home and he should find his opportunity once he is handicapped."

6 ch g Doyen - Si Si Si

Winner of six of his 38 starts. Gained his first success over hurdles at Plumpton (2m) in November when beating Kepple Isle six lengths off a mark of 102. Currently rated 110.
"He did well when he won at Plumpton and is a horse who has to have fast ground. It was only just fast enough at Plumpton and he ran a good race at Chelmsford next time when only just touched off by Duchess of Marmite who then followed up at Kempton. He is a nice horse who is going the right way and he will make a quite good chaser."

5 b m Black Sam Bellamy - Queen's Dancer

Winner of four of his 15 starts. Scored by six lengths from Coco Des Champs at Sandown (2m 4f) on her latest start this month off a mark of 124. Currently rated 132.
"She is a filly who has done well this season and won very well at Sandown last time and subsequently was put up another 8lb. I do feel it is going to be quite tough for her and the main aim is to try and get some black type for her if we can. She is a sweet genuine mare who always runs a good race and two and a half miles is her trip."

12 b g Kahyasi - Recipe

Winner of nine of his 54 starts. Finished third, beaten nine and a quarter lengths, to Baby Shine at Lingfield (2m 7 1/2f) on Saturday off current mark of 125. Previously winner at Ascot (3m) in November when beating Loose Chip a nose off a mark of 120.
"He was a very good third at Lingfield on Saturday after winning a £25,000 race at Ascot. He is a horse who is a model of consistency and always runs his heart out. He is always good each way."

6 ch g Generous - Safrron Pride.

Placed in novice hurdles at Kempton. No wins from four starts and unseated rider on chasing debut at Lingfield (2m) last week.
"He got knocked over by my other horse first time over fences at Lingfield last week but he is horse with a future over fences and he will stay very well. He jumps well, deserves another chance and is worth keeping an eye on."

7 b g Golan - Larkbarrow

Winner of three of his 20 starts. Scored by nine lengths from Double Chocolate in a handicap chase at Leicester (2m 6 1/2f) off a mark of 104 in November,. Currently rated 112.
"I think he is probably one of the most improved horses in the yard and I stepped him up in trip for the first time the other day and he won quite well. He is now on a mark of 112 and hopefully the handicapper hasn't killed him too much. He should be good for another race."

9 b g Beneficial - Just Leader

Winner of six of his 35 starts. Placed third in three starts in handicap chases this season and beaten nine and a quarter lengths by Balgarry at Taunton (2m 2f) last week off his current mark of 127.
"I was slightly disappointed with his effort when he finished third at Taunton last week. His jumping was letting him down and when they quickened the pace up he made a bad mistake at the last one down the back. He then made a lot of ground up too quick and didn't finish as he had used it all up getting there. He may run again this week."

7 b g Motivator - Intaaj

Winner of seven of his 43 starts. Failed by a short head behind Periquest on his latest outing in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (2m 4 1/2f) in December off his current mark of 110.
"He is another one who wants decent ground. He was unlucky not to win at Huntingdon the other day when he just failed to get up on the line. He might have to go back on the AW and another step up in trip over hurdles might help him."

5 br g Halling - Fair View

Winner of three of his 27 starts. Better effort over fences when runner-up, beaten four and a half length, to Walden Prince on his chasing debut in a novices handicap event at Huntingdon (2m) in October off his current mark of 110.
"He is on a break at the moment as he is another who wants good ground. He had a hard season but he will be back around February/March time and can go on the AW or go Novice Chasing. He is fine in his grade."

4 b c Galileo - Red Evie

Winner of one of his 11 starts. Placed in a handicap hurdle at Kempton in November off a mark of 115. Currently rated 108.
"He is a better footballer than he is a racehorse! - he has been very disappointing but is gradually coming down the handicap and wants goodish ground. He probably needs a further drop in the weights and then he will win."

4 b/br g Kalanisi - Vindonissa

Winner of one of his 3 starts. Scored by eight lengths from He's A Charmer on his hurdling debut at Ascot (2m 3 1/2f) in November.
"He is a horse I managed to get beat at 1-4 which was bad of me really and I really shouldn't have run the horse on the ground at Lingfield last week. That heavy ground at Lingfield is a law unto itself and some go on it and some won't and he didn't. I just hope it was the ground that got him beat."

6 b g Jeremy - Mamara Reef

Winner of six of his 38 starts. Scored by two and a quarter lengths from Spice Fair in a handicap hurdle at Sandown (2m) on his latest outing this month off a mark of 115. Currently rated 120.
"He has been a model of consistency all year and hasn't put a foot wrong. He was beaten in a Flat jockeys handicap hurdle at Lingfield where Shane Kelly gave him a great ride and couldn't understand how he got beat but the winner Solstice Star has won two more since and won a Class 3 race at Cheltenham. He won well at Sandown and he never ceases to amaze me this horse as he just keeps improving."

4 ch g Haafhd - Brave Mare.

Winner of one of his 9 races over hurdles. Ran well in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton (1m 7 1/2f) this month when beaten only a length and a quarter by Presenting Arms off a mark of 120. Currently rated 122.
"He is a horse who breaks my heart as he works very well at home. He ran well at Wincanton the other day having put in a poor performance the time before. He is definitely better than he shows and I think he likes tight track like Plumpton, Kempton and Wincanton where he finished second the other day. He will probably run at Kempton over Christmas and he goes on any ground. He is a horse to keep on the right side of."

9 ch g My Risk - Hirlish

Winner of 16 of his 31 starts. Top class chaser who won the 2014 Grade 1 Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham (2m) by six lengths from Somersby and was landing the Grade 1 Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown (2m) for a second time (successful in 2013) when beating Special Tiara three quarters of a length this month. Currently rated 169 over fences.
"He probably won't run now until the Clarence House at Ascot. He was back to form the other day in the Tingle Creek and we were delighted with his performance. Hopefully he can improve again and be better than he showed then. Long term we would be looking to go for the Champion Chase once again."

10 b g Kahyasi - Vie De Reine

Winner of six of his 44 starts. Back to winning form on his latest outing at Sandown (3m) in November when scoring by five lengths from Pineau De Re off a mark of 132. Currently rated 139.
"He is a horse we will probably get ready for the final of the Veterans Chase Series at Sandown on January 1. He won nicely at Sandown last time and we just have a small foot problem with him at the moment but hopefully we will get over that and he's in good form."

5 b g Bertolini - Another Secret

Winner of five of his 16 starts over jumps. Successful in novices' chase at Towcester (2m 1/2f) in October and Plumpton (2m 1f) in November. Currently rated 140 over fences.
"He is a lovely horse who is two from three this year and the only reason he got beat the time before was that he didn't stay the extra two and a half furlongs at Plumpton and might have been beaten by a better horse as well. He's a two miler who is just on a little break at the moment but could be back on Boxing Day."

6 b g Saint Des Saints - Manita Des Champs

Winner of four of his 24 starts. Short head victor from Malibu Sun in a handicap chase at Sandown (1m 7 1/2f) this month off a mark of 112. Currently rated 121.
"He won the other day at Sandown and injured his high suspensory. He will be out for a little while and will hopefully be back in the Spring."

ANTONY - improving sort with a bright future over fences
AR MAD - career best performance when landing the Grade 1 Henry VIII Novices Chase and further top novice chase victories can come his way.
MR FICKLE - continues to surprise his handler and further handicap hurdles wins beckon.
RYEOLLIEAN - hasn't quite display the promise of his home work but early days yet.
SIRE DE GRUGY - looked to be heading back to his best with a positive display to land a second Tingle Creek.
VIOLET DANCER - looks another natural to the chasing game and plenty more victories will come his way.
