Glorious Goodwood is a venue that Luca Cumani traditionally does well at and with his Bedford House team now in full flight he will be hoping to build on his 38 career winners at the five-day meeting this week.

The wet Spring has hindered Cumani's progress this term with 11 winners and over £305,000 in prize money but the prevalent signs over the last few weeks have been that all is well now and Shakopee looks in the sort of form to give a bold display in the opening Matchbook Betting Exchange Handicap that he won 12 months ago with Mount Logan.

Mizzou has been one to keep the flag flying with a second success in the Sagaro Stakes and a brave effort when second to Order of St George in the Ascot Gold Cup and Second Step ran as well as could be expected when beaten only six and a quarter lengths in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

His fillies have been the chief suffers during the inclement weather but the likes of Very Dashing, Haggle and Beautiful Morning under his wing there looks plenty of more glory days in store.

Cumani said: "It has not been an easy year but the horse are coming right now and hopefully we can look forward to the next few months."

On the eve of one of favourite meetings, Luca kindly spoke to Tony Elves of ATR about his team.

Older Horses

"Al is in good form and ran a good first time out race at Newmarket two weeks ago. He is going to run again this Saturday at Newmarket over a mile and a half again."

4 b g Galileo - Barter

Winner of two of his 6 starts. Impressive five length victor from Fiftyshadesfreed off a mark of 82 on his reappearance at Sandown (1m 2f) in June but disappointing odds-on favourite when last of six to Yorkidding at Ascot (1m 4f) last Friday off his current mark of 92.
"He let the side down at Ascot after having won very well at Sandown. He jumped too well and was a bit fresh and keen and couldn't settle. We will get him to perform better next time."

4 b g Sea The Stars - Fallen Star

Winner of two of his 8 starts. Scored by two lengths from Rotherwick off a mark of 84 at Newcastle (1m 2f) in June. Currently rated 91.
"I have been pleased with his progress this season and last time out at Yarmouth things didn't go for him in a slowly run race. We might now be looking to stepping him up to a mile and a half in a couple of weeks time."

4 b f Pivotal - Kithanga

Winner of two of her 7 starts. Better effort this season when runner-up, beaten a length and a quarter to Beautiful Romance in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes at York (1m 2 1/2f) in May. Currently rated 109.

4 b g Dubawi - Victoire Celebre

Winner of two of his 14 starts. Beaten only a length and a quarter by Heisman at Yarmouth (1m 1f) in July off his current mark of 85.

"Having run well at Newcastle in the Hoppings Stakes she didn't like the firm ground at York the other day. She will have a mini-break through August given that the ground will be firm for her everywhere and we will start again in September. I think she is a listed class filly but she needs conditions to be in her favour."

5 b g Dalakhani - My Dark Rosaleen

b c Pivotal - Elle Danzig

"He has been a frustrating, yet talented horse who has had little problems. He is now going well and is not far away from his first racecourse appearance. He will stay a mile and a quarter and we might start him off over a mile."

b f Oasis Dream - Pongee

Winner of her only start at Newmarket (7f) last October when beating Colonial Charm half a length. Currently rated 84.
"She is another filly who suffered from the cold Spring. She is now coming to herself and it won't be long be she is running. She will probably start at a mile."

b f Oasis Dream - Cascata

Winner of one of her five starts. Off the mark in a handicap at Yarmouth (1m 2f) last Thursday when beating Hope Is High off her current mark of 57.
"It was nice to see her win the other day even though it was in modest company. I think she is capable of winning again and will try a mile and a half next time."

ch c Sea The Stars - Deirdre

No wins from two starts. Better effort on debut at Sandown (1m 2f) in June when fourth, beaten seven and a half lengths, to Autocratic.

gr c Pivotal - Millennium

Finished runner-up, beaten a length and a half, to Samharry at Doncaster (7f) this month.
"He ran a good race the other day at Doncaster when finishing second to quite a nice horse of John Gosden's and given that he has got quite a stout pedigree it was a good introduction. He will go for another seven furlong maiden before too long."

b f Fastnet Rock - Victoire Final

Finished third, beaten a length and three quarter, to Victoire Final at Doncaster (7f) this month.
"She ran well when third at Doncaster first time out and we will looking for a similar seven furlong fillies race before too long."

KOORA - much better than she showed in Ireland last time and can prosper in the coming months.

VERY DASHING - impressive winner of a decent fillies maiden at Nottingham and can win plenty more races.
