Lucy Wadham

From her Moulton Paddocks Stables in Newmarket, Lucy Wadham aims to remain essentially a small trainer to allow her to give personal attention to every horse in her string, and with the knowledge gained place them to maximum effect.

LUCY WADHAM’S patient approach has reaped reward over the years with her team now in grand form there should be plenty to be heard from her Moulton Paddocks team in Newmarket in the coming months.

Shambra put Lucy on the nine winner mark for the season when an impressive scorer at Wetherby on Saturday and she could have bigger fish to fry in the Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at Sandown on March 10.

Unfortunately, one of her stable stars Le Reve is out of action for the remainder of this season but she has plenty under her care that should be making their mark in the right company shortly.

Lucy said: “We had a very quiet time in the months before Christmas and the horses are really just coming back on track. They are in good form now and let’s hope we can keep them that way and make up for lost time.”

Lucy kindly spoke to Tony Elves of ATR about those she hopes can prosper in the coming months and beyond.

Alizee Javilex (FR)

Form Profile:

Winner of one of her 13 starts and currently rated 89. Well beaten in both starts in Handicap Hurdles at Huntingdon (2m 4 1/2f) on Boxing Day off a mark of 99 and Leicester (2m 4 1/2f) in January off a mark of 94. Unplaced on the Flat at Lingfield (1m 4f) on Saturday.

Trainer Says:

She is an interesting project and a half sister to the Grand National winner Mon Nome. She has quite good bumper form and won and was placed in a listed bumper but has been very disappointing over hurdles. She ran on the Flat at Lingfield on Saturday but didn’t really show a lot there and we will have to get our thinking caps on.

Amberjam (IRE)

Form Profile:

Winner of three of his 18 starts and currently rated 105 over fences and hurdles. Finished runner-up, beaten eight lengths, to Kansas City Chief in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster (3m 1/2f) on latest start in January off current mark.

Trainer Says:

He is a nice horse who Oliver Sherwood trained last year. He has run well in three of his four runs for me and we switched him back to hurdles and he has been enjoying that. He needs a galloping track and the ground to be not too bad. Hopefully, he is handicapped to win and we can see if we can find the right race for him. He is a stayer and wants three miles.

Trainer Says:

She has had a very good season and has won twice over hurdles. We are going to try and get some black type if we can and we are looking at the listed mares hurdle at Sandown on February 16. She is a big strong girl and she will go chasing next season.

He has been a disappointment really but in his last run he was suffering from a kissing spine and we have medicated his back. We are hoping that will work the oracle with him. He works likes a nice horse at home but hasn’t shown it on the track.

We were delighted with her first run at Ludlow and I don’t know what the race amounted to but she couldn’t have done it any better.
