Kenilworth - Saturday 16th December 2017

  • At The Races
  • 10:30 - Forus Maiden Plate (F & M)

Several with chances in a competitive opener to a quality days' racing. Thein-form Snaith yard could be set for another big day and can the ball rolling with TOWNSHIP MELODY. Newcomers BELL JAR, FAST FINISH and DOUBLE ROSIE are worth a market check - the latter makes most appeal. MS SMARTY PANTS finished behind HAMMIE'S FAN last time but can improve to turn the tables.

  • 11:05 - Sunshine Sweepstake Maiden Plate (F & M)

Tricky start the exotics, so go wide in the BiPot. STAR BURST finished behind LOVE DOVE last time but could improve sufficiently to reverse that form. FLOWER OF CARMEL was outpaced in the finish last time and should enjoy this step up in trip. BID BEFORE SUNSET is worth another chance this distance, although a bigger threat could come from likely improver EAST LYNNE. Open!

  • 11:40 - Sunshine Sweepstake Mr 72 Handicap

TALK OF THE TOWN impressed over this trip when shedding his maiden tag. He concedes weight to all on handicap debut but is probably better than rated so can prove equal to the task. SILVER MASTER finished ahead of subsequent winner KING OF ACES last time and should confirm. Maiden winners MILDEN SPELL and WHAT A JOKER should have more to offer. TRIPPLE EXPLOSION has claims too.

  • 12:15 - Mahala TV Mr 64 Handicap

Several hard-knocking sorts renew rivalry in an intriguing contest. Rejuvenated AVIEMORE finished ahead of TROJAN QUEST, ASTRAPI and HENRY TUDOR last time. The latter disappointed on that occasion, though, and is expected to fare better. WESTERN STORM finished 2nd last time to a horse that READY STEADYGO had beaten on debut - food for thought. CARDINAL CALL has Eachway claims.

  • 12:55 - Forus Mr 69 Handicap

Good race. THE SUN ALSO RISES wasn't winning out of turn last time and his running style gives the impression that more is yet to come over this trip. ZANZIBARIAN ran on well over shorter in his first start out the maidens and should pose more of a threat over this distance. ROYAL GINGER boasts solid form in better company. The Ramsden trio and MR LOVER BOY have place chances.

  • 13:30 - Forus Premier Trophy (Grade 2)

The 1st of an 'Awesome Foursome' of feature races. Well-weighted runners DEO JUVENTE, KRAMBAMBULI and OVIDIO are capable but may need the outing. Unbeaten LAST WINTER is well treated by the conditions too, and he could be even better than rated! Progressive Algoa Cup winner NEBULA will be competitive, so warrants respect. Both BLACK ARTHUR and HORIZON will have more to offer.

  • 14:05 - Forus Cape Guineas (Grade 1) (3 Year-Olds)

Typically high-class renewal. TAP O' NOTH faces a tough task from a wide draw but has looked a Guineas prospect since winning the Langerman. Both DO ITAGAIN and WHITE RIVER finished strongly behind ROCKET COUNTDOWN in the Selangor but can reverse the form on the Summer course. SIR DAVID BAIRD and SIR FRENCHIE caught the eye last time. Several others have earning potential too.

  • 14:40 - Sunshine Sweepstake Victress Stakes (Grade 3) (Fillies And Mares)

SEATTLE GOLD overcame a wide draw last time to lead most of these a merry dance. She faces a tough task repeating the feat on these terms, though, and both GOODTIME GAL and WHOSE THAT GIRL should turn the tables. Best-weighted SAFE HARBOUR and progressive LOUISIANA caught the eye that day and could also reverse the form. NIGHTINGALE and LADY OF THE HOUSE set a good standard.

  • 15:15 - Mahala TV Cape Summer Stayers Handicap (Grade 3)

STRATHDON completed a hat-trick of wins in impressive style over a similar trip last time. On that evidence, and with further progress expected, he should give a bold showing. CAPE SPEED has run well over shorter recently and should pose a threat in his peak outing. RED PERIL stole a march on OUR EMPEROR when winning the Settlers Trophy but may not get his own way again...

  • 15:50 - Mahala TV Fm 70 Handicap (F & M)

Open, but the value may lie with LILY THERESA. The selection had finished behind DIVA FEVER, ROYAL CHIAN and GIMME KATRINA prior to showing a fair degree of improvement with the blinkers on last time. The latter has more scope than most so could pose the biggest threat. ESPRESSIVO confirmed her promisewith a win on the Polytrack in PE last time and should have more to offer.
