Kenilworth - Saturday 24th June 2017

  • At The Races
  • 11:25 - Potala Palace Work Riders' Maiden Plate (F & M)

Work Riders' contest to kick off a smashing day's racing! DUCHESS OF PRUSSIA made good improvement in her 2nd outing and should go close if making further progress. I AM CAPTAIN showed a degree of improvement in blinkers last time and should be competitive reverting to a sprint with the headgear on again. ORINOCO ROCK has shown her best form over this trip and can feature too.

  • 12:00 - Pathfork Maiden Plate

COSSACK GUARD found one too good again last time but could get his head in front this time stepping up in trip. BORDER CONTROL has run well in 2 startssince returning from a break and should pose a threat. OVAL OFFICE and stable companions WISH TO LAND and MINI LOUSHE have claims, though a bigger threat could come from juveniles CAPE XTREME and well-related PALO ALTO.

  • 12:35 - Dynasty Open Open Mr 83 Handicap

Proper handicap - super race. Hat-trick seeking PLATINUM PRINCE will have more to offer over the extra. However, that progressive sort could have most to fear from re-opposing duo PLANO and CAPE LADDIE, both of whom can pose a threat on these terms. Stable companions WAITING FOR RAIN and FRIENDLY have solid Eachway claims again. Neither RINJANI and ROYAL GINGER are without hope

  • 13:10 - Highlands Stud Irridescence Stakes (Listed) (2 Year-Old Fillies)

Tricky Juvenile feature - the 1st of 4 Listed races to enjoy. ROSE IN BLOOM boats solid form in similar contests over shorter and makes most appeal. Impressive last-start winners MISS KATALIN and ELUSIVE HEART could pose a threat, if making the improvement over the extra. FAVOLA and REMEMBER THIS have more to offer. RINGS AND THINGS, RAYA BAYA and TOO PHAT TO FLY can earn too.

  • 13:50 - Highlands Stud Langerman (Listed) (2 Year-Olds)

Most intriguing renewal. Joey Ramsden has an impressive record in this race and runs R6m record purchase SILVER COIN, who should be wiser to the task after a promising debut win. Fellow debut winner TAP O' NOTH could be anything and can pose a threat, withy natural improvement expected. Both SPEEDPOINT and SUPREME ORATOR have Eachway claims, as do BIG PLEASURE and ZODIAC JACK.

  • 14:20 - Highlands Stud Ladies Mile (Listed) (Fillies And Mares 3-Years & Older)

NGAGA lost her unbeaten record last time when returning from an extended break. She should strip fitter and can resume winning ways. Ultra-consistent SILVAN STAR warmed up for this with a good 2nd against the boys last time. She should be competitive once more. On a line through that rival, stable companions MISS MARKER and SUBLIME LADY can make their presence felt. Good race!

  • 14:55 - Highlands Stud Winter Oaks (Listed) (3yo Fillies - Winter Series Leg 3)

SEATTLE GOLD beat WHOSE THAT GIRL (1kg better off) by 1.70 lengths in the Mile last time. There shouldnt be much that pair on these terms. However, both have yet to race beyond 1800m and are worth opposing with LEAVES OF GRASS.That said, all of BARONESS MARY, KEEP THE FAITH, PRANCING and LINDLEYS LANEcould show more over the extra and warrant respect. Wide open!

  • 15:30 - Highlands Stud Winter Derby (Grade 3) (3-Year Olds - Winter Series Leg 3)

AFRICAN NIGHT SKY can bank a cool R250 000 bonus for Mr Crabbia by adding the Winter Derby to his earlier wins in the Winter Guineas and Winter Classic. He holds OUR MATE ART, LOADSHEDDER and OLLIVANDER on recent form. NEWLANDS was 4th in the Grade 1 Cape Derby on Sun Met day and won his prep. He should pose the biggest threat to the selection. MANGROVE has an Eachway shout.

  • 16:05 - Jackson Mr 72 Handicap

Progressive TWILIGHT TRIP won a better race on handicap debut and a resultant 4-point penalty may not be enough to prevent him from completing a hat-trick of wins. He would only have improved during a subsequent break, so looks hard to oppose. PIRACY and PRINCE OF EDEN can pose a threat on these terms.MOONRISE SENSATION and DESIGNER POT have chances too. Respect IN THE JUNGLE.
