Eyecatchers (7 January)

Perfect Pasture (11-4) made it six out of six at Lingfield on Tuesday and other previous Eyecatchers to win recently were Toner D'Oudairies (3-1) and Brick Red (4-6). Alan has six more Eyecatchers from the past seven days to add to your ATR Tracker.

WELCOME to our Eyecatchers column. Every week Alan Thomson will be pinpointing horses primed to strike in the next few weeks, if not days. Remember, you can add Alan's weekly updates to your ATR Tracker.

GEORGIAN BAY ATR Tracker
(Wolverhampton, 3rd January)
Having his first run since mid-July, Karl Burke's four-year-old lost out on the nod to Apostle after a ding-dong battle throughout the final furlong. The winner was beaten a head by Redvers in the big ladies race at Ascot in midsummer so the form is solid enough and the first two here pulled significantly clear.

ICEBLAST ATR Tracker
(Lingfield, 4th January)
Mick Easterby's six-year-old, better known for his exploits around Wolverhampton, was paying his first trip to Lingfield and went down with flying colours behind fellow northern raider Kyllachy Star. Stall 10 wasn't ideal and Iceblast was doing good work in the final furlong to close down the winner.

KASHMIR PEAK ATR Tracker
(Lingfield, 4th January)
Not sure the first-time blinkers did Kashmir Peak any favours as he tended to race keenly on the heels of the leaders. John Quinn's five-year-old, last seen in the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham, was put in his place on the dash for home won by useful Castilo Del Diablo, but his shrewd trainer will have other plans for Kashmir Peak.

PRESBURG ATR Tracker
(Lingfield, 4th January)
Finished fifth behind Castilo Del Diablo, which looked unlikely when he lost his pitch on the home bend. Presburg is more of a Kempton specialist and may well be capable of defying the handicapper on a return visit to the Sunbury circuit.

NAAZ ATR Tracker
(Lingfield, 4th January)
Found Indian Jack's late thrust irresistible but still finished clear of the pack and Ed Dunlop's colt is probably open to a little more improvement. Stays a bit further than this mile trip, too.

DANCE FOR GEORGIE ATR Tracker
(Wolverhampton, 6th January)
January was always a productive month on the all-weather for former trainer Pat Haslam and son Ben looks like adopting a similar modus operandi if Dance For Georgie's victory is any clue. The five-year-old mare hasn't had much racing and stretched clear in this modest apprentices' handicap to win readily. Seven furlongs around here is sharp enough for her and she may improve a few more pounds over a mile. She has won right-handed on turf, so Kempton would be well worth exploring.
