WELCOME to our Eyecatchers column. Every week Alan Thomson pinpoints horses primed to strike in the next few weeks, if not days. Remember, you can add Alan's weekly updates to your ATR Tracker.

SLEEPER ATR Tracker
(Kempton, 3 September)
Ralph Beckett's filly has enjoyed a terrific summer and was chasing a four-timer in this 1m 4f handicap. Regular rider Andrea Atzeni settled Sleeper well off the pace but she made relentless late headway to close down John Gosden's well-touted winner Anglo Irish. Sleeper may not have finished winning just yet.

MR FRANKIE ATR Tracker
(Wolverhampton, 4 September)
The three-year-old gelding made a bright debut from the widest stall (11) in this seven-furlong maiden dominated by market leaders Ramshackle and Nathr. The penny dropped late for Mr Frankie as he rattled home in third and Ed De Giles can find him a race.

BLEU ASTRAL ATR Tracker
(Thirsk, 6 September)
Richard Fahey should be able to place his two-year-old debutante to advantage on the evidence of his second spot behind long odds-on shot Secret Brief in this seven-furlong maiden. Bleu Astral pulled six lengths clear of the third and should stay a bit further in due course.

YORKIDDING ATR Tracker
(Thirsk, 6 September)
Looked a big, rangy type in the paddock and there is plenty of scope for improvement on her debut effort (fourth) in this mile maiden won by William Haggas's Tadpole. Mark Johnston's filly couldn't quite match the finishing pace of the leading players but this daughter of Dalakhani won't be long in picking up the winning thread.

SECOND STEP ATR Tracker
(Ascot, 6 September)
Drew the widest berth in stall 18 and Shane Kelly was always going to have trouble finding a position in this ultra-competitive 1m 4f three-year-old handicap. He opted to settle Second Step well off the pace and, as a consequence, forfeited any serious hope of winning. Second Step eventually stayed on into seventh and Luca Cumani's gelding, boasting form figures of 2113 coming into the race, will be ready to roll again next time granted better luck with the draw.

GOTHIC ATR Tracker
(Ascot, 6 September)
Sir Michael Stoute's colt was another to have been inconvenienced by the draw (stall 17) in Battersea's race and Ryan Moore did well to get him as close as fifth at the line. Gothic had previously scored on soft ground, so the Ascot track may have been livelier than ideal. There could be good handicap to be picked up this autumn.
