THE DALEY EXPRESS SET TO DELIVER AFTER THREE PLACED FINISHES

ALTESSE DE GUYE ATR Tracker
(Uttoxeter, 6 December)

Made a pleasing debut over fences, staying on into second spot without ever troubling sure-footed trailblazer Return Flight.

Dan Skelton’s winner is a pretty useful tool and Altesse De Guye would probably have welcomed a more searching stamina test, having scored over three miles at Cheltenham in April.

Martin Keighley’s mare can make her mark at this level.

MICHELE STROGOFF ATR Tracker
(Chelmsford City, 8 December)

Beaten into fifth by the only other three-year-old, Chester Street, in this Class 2 handicap but not disgraced by any means.

Roger Fell’s gelding was conceding 6lb to the winner, who clocked a smart time, and this was a solid effort wearing a first-time hood.

Michele Strogoff raced on the inner from stall one and that isn’t always the best place to be positioned around here.

ISHARAH ATR Tracker
(Newcastle, 9 December)

Not blessed with a sharp turn of foot which often makes him vulnerable, but he remains competitive in middle-distance handicaps.

Isharah found I Am Not Here too hot to handle but the winner was very well backed and was clearly ‘expected’.

With a strong American influence in his pedigree, Isharah will probably be kept busy on the all-weather by Mark Johnston and there might be a little improvement along the way.

RIPOLL ATR Tracker
(Wolverhampton, 10 December)

Has been very consistent through the summer/autumn on both turf and artificial surfaces, and Sylvester Kirk’s three-year-old was a bit unlucky to run into the improving Holiday Magic in this seven-furlong handicap.

Ripoll led early in the straight and was only worried out of it close home, with the rest well beaten off.

HANNAH’S PRINCESS ATR Tracker
(Cheltenham, 10 December)

Could manage only sixth spot, beaten more than 16 lengths, in the mares’ hurdle won by impressive Briery Queen but Warren Greatrex will have been happy enough with Hannah’s Princess.

The seven-year-old was having her first start in 217 days and she moved up quite promisingly two out before fading from the home bend.

Hannah’s Princess beat a decent sort in Midnight Jazz at Exeter last season over a slightly shorter trip than this 2m 4f and she should strip sharper next time.

THE DALEY EXPRESS ATR Tracker
(Wolverhampton, 10 December)

A notable gamble on Ed McMahon’s The Daley Express was ultimately derailed by the widest draw in this five-furlong maiden.

The colt edged left and was bumped exiting the stalls, leaving George Baker with problems to overcome.

To compound matters, The Daley Express came very wide around the bend and although running on into third place, the damage had been done. Now 3-2-3 from his three starts, The Daley Express looks capable of picking up a modest maiden before going handicapping.
