WELCOME to our Eyecatchers column. Every week Alan Thomson pinpoints horses primed to strike in the next few weeks, if not days. Remember, you can add Alan's weekly updates to your ATR Tracker.

MARTLET ATR Tracker
(Leicester, 9 September)
Martlet made a pleasing debut for Lady Rothschild in this mile maiden, running on willingly when eventually getting the message inside the final furlong. Runner-up Housemaker sets a reasonable standard and John Gosden will doubtless bring Martlet along steadily with his customary patience and skill.

HAZELRIGG ATR Tracker
(Doncaster, 10 September)
Hazelrigg always comes alive at this time of year and the nine-year-old should be cherry-ripe for his annual trip to Ayr's Western meeting. Tim Easterby's durable sprinter is 2lb lower than when winning a five-furlong dash there 12 months ago, a race he also bagged in 2010. In this 20-runner handicap, David Allan found himself short of room over a furlong out and Hazelrigg could have finished closer than seventh with a slice of luck.

MOHATEM ATR Tracker
(Doncaster, 11 September)
Barry Hills has few peers on Town Moor and the venerable handler introduced a nice colt in this mile maiden won by progressive Commemorative. Paul Hanagan anchored Mohatem well off the pace but eventually passed several opponents on the run to the line, grabbing fifth spot without ever getting serious with his mount.

EURYSTHEUS ATR Tracker
(Doncaster, 12 September)
Returned from a 62-day break to run a race full of promise in fourth in this competitive Class 3 handicap won so decisively by Don't Stare. Sent off a 25-1 shot, Eurystheus came from an impossible position and is entitled to strip a bit sharper next time. A winner on the all-weather, Eurystheus has options.

STORM KING ATR Tracker
(Chester, 13 September)
David Griffiths has made a name for himself with some speedy types and Storm King isn't short of toe. Unfortunately, the five-year-old entire was unable to use his stride fully after a troubled start and then finding himself short of room for most of this seven-furlong trip. Belatedly switched wide in the straight, Storm King stuck on well in fourth to Marcret.

PATENTAR ATR Tracker
(Lingfield, 13 September)
After making a winning juvenile debut at York last October, Marco Botti's colt acquitted himself well in fourth (40-1) in the Craven Stakes. Off for 107 days, Patentar made a spectacular return here, pulling clear of Dark Emerald once Luke Morris had deftly manoeuvred his mount around the pacesetters before edging back to the favoured stands' rail.
