WELCOME to our Eyecatchers column. Every week Alan Thomson pinpoints horses primed to strike in the next few weeks, if not days. Remember, you can add Alan's weekly updates to your ATR Tracker.

BITTER LAKE ATR Tracker
(Newbury, 25 June)
Proved no match for Suffused in this hot little fillies' handicap (fourth) but she wasn't knocked about by James McDonald after being tightened up by the placed horses, Dreamlike and Maybelater, inside the final furlong. Bitter Lake scored on soft ground at Newmarket last year and may come fully into her own when the ground eases.

PADDY POWER ATR Tracker
(Newcastle, 27 June)
Richard Fahey holds his colt in high regard and, after a couple of minor disappointments, Paddy Power's narrow defeat at the hands of Plagiarism will have raised spirits. This was Paddy Power's third outing and the way he knuckled down when headed (pair clear) augurs well for the rest of the season over trips probably in excess of five furlongs.

OASIS FANTASY ATR Tracker
(Newcastle, 27 June)
His backers never stood an earthly of collecting in the Northumberland Plate, with Oasis Fantasy settled well off the pace from his very wide draw, but better times may lie ahead. The form of his Goodwood second to Quest For More is clearly rock solid and Ed Dunlop will have something in mind at Glorious Goodwood where Oasis Fantasy ran such a cracking race behind Double Bluff 12 months ago.

COMICAS ATR Tracker
(Newmarket, 27 June)
Turned out quickly by Charlie Appleby only seven days after his promising debut (fifth) behind Hornby at HQ, Comicas was involved in a rare old tussle with Ibn Malik before surrendering close home. The third horse, hot favourite John Splendid, sets a decent standard and Comicas looks to have a future.

ANOTHER ROYAL ATR Tracker
(Pontefract, 29 June)
A dual Redcar winner last October, Another Royal has proved a most consistent filly for Tim Easterby. This was another sterling effort as she dug deep under David Allan to catch warm favourite Sleeping Apache. It was five lengths back to the third and Another Royale clocked the best comparative time of the day. She seems best on good ground or just on the easy side, and appreciated the well watered surface in the straight.

RIO DEVA ATR Tracker
(Musselburgh, 29 June)
One of Keith Dalgleish's lesser lights and the fact she was dropped into a seller on her second start tells its own story. However, Rio Diva had cleared picked up the thread following a clueless Redcar debut and fairly bounced out of the stalls to lead on the rail. She was just outpaced in third but this Captain Rio juvenile could nick a small race up north, possibly under more testing conditions.
