The wait is over!

It’s Breeders’ Cup Friday and I, for one, am ready to stop texting and talking and to start wagering and watching. Just a few more hours now.

One note before we jump into Friday selections. The best place to watch the Breeders’ Cup is undoubtedly Sky Sports Racing but this is 2020, and many of you will have multiple screens going. I highly recommend having one of them up on Breederscup.com where you’ll find the “contender cam” as well as some other amazing event views, including VR experiences of the paddock and winner’s circle.

Watch the 2020 Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland live on Sky Sports Racing (Sky 415 | Virgin 535) on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th November.

They’re all very cool, but the “contender cam” is the one I’m most interested in for wagering purposes. They will allow you to follow all 14 Breeders' Cup contenders from the time they enter the paddock until they walk into the starting gate for every race.

For one thing, I will be focusing on the likes of Siskin in the Mile and Improbable in the Classic – horses who can get worked up pre-race. This could well color last minute betting choices. One runner I will watch closely today is Simply Ravishing. She nearly ran off in her work the other day and I want to see if she keeps her act together.

I’ll also just want to watch a bunch of horses as a fan: Monomoy Girl seeking her amazing achievement of regaining her BC Distaff Crown after many thought she’d never race again; the amazing Magical, another we thought might be finished, attempting to go one better than 2018; Tiz The Law looking to prove he’s the real deal after all the hype earlier this year.

This is a very cool idea I hope they keep around.

Selections:

19:30 (Juvenile Turf Sprint) – For me this is a race to take the 13-8 on GOLDEN PAL or pass. If you’re looking for a double-figure-ish each-way type as an alternative or use in exotics, Cowan and After Five look the most interesting to me.

20:10 (Juvenile Turf)NEW MANDATE has shortened from the advised price but I’d still back him at 9-2. My alternatives and exotic runners are basically all the ones at the top of the market.

20:50 (Juvenile Fillies) – I am anti the favorite. Still like DAYOUTOFTHEOFFICE at 7-2 and VEQUIST at 6-1. Princess Noor seems like a hype job to me with slow figs that hasn’t beaten anything. Her Hall of Fame trainer is confident she’ll roll but this is a spot where I’ll #fadethenarrative.

21:30 (Juvenile Fillies Turf) – My opinion here is changing a bit because of the massive price on ALDA at 20-1. She looked awesome, and has good figures. Could get a great setup too if the other two I like, Aunt Pearl and Campanelle, end up hooking up. I honestly like all three and will play around with them in various ways.

22:15 (Juvenile) – I remain team JACKIE'S WARRIOR for this one and think 13-8 is an acceptable price.
