The turf handicaps are never easy to penetrate for the international runners with Godolphin so dominant, but Cap Francais is no forlorn hope from the Ed Walker yard and could be of particular interest first-time out. His record when either making his debut or reappearing after more than 200 days off is 221, although to be fair to him he did hold his form in 2020 barring one blip on soft ground at Haydock. It could also be the case that left-handed turning tracks suit him better as well, two of his wins coming at Haydock with other good efforts posted at Epsom and Lingfield. He was thought good enough to contest the Lingfield Derby Trial in 2019 and doesn’t have too many miles on the clock so could be worth chancing at Meydan this year.
