Ed Walker is poised to give Ten Bob Tony the chance to replicate the heroics of Dreamloper in the Prix du Moulin on Sunday – before attentions turn to Ascot for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on British Champions Day.
Dreamloper enjoyed some of her finest hours for Walker and jockey Kieran Shoemark at ParisLongchamp, adding the Moulin to the Prix d’Ispahan she had won earlier in the year in the French capital in early September 2022.
Now it could be the turn of Ten Bob Tony to follow in her exalted footsteps in a season where the five-year-old has cemented himself as a genuine Group One performer, following up his Royal Ascot victory in the Queen Anne Stakes with admirable performances in defeat in both the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and City of York Stakes most recently.
Walker said: “He’s in cracking form and I’m slightly kicking myself for going to York and I’ve now got to decide if we go to the Moulin next weekend or just wait for Ascot.
“He’s had a great year and owes us nothing, but I think the Moulin will really suit, as will the QEII, that’s a race that is kind of written for him really and that would be his big target.
“We’re planning to run him next weekend unless he says no. At the moment his weight is good and he looks well and as long as nothing changes I think we’ll roll the dice in the Moulin.
“There’s plenty of time after that before Ascot to freshen up.”
