TEX won here over 7f in July and has since backed that success up with a pair of solid efforts in defeat at Glorious Goodwood over a trip too sharp and when a neck second at Brighton. His rider Brodie Hampson won this contest 12 months ago and the five-year-old is likely to have more to offer based on those recent performances. Eazy On The Eye has been knocking on the door and is expected to be in the mix, along with Calyxoh and Cancan In The Rain.

San Jose's debut fourth at Newbury wasn't without promise and the son of Blackbeard is entitled to step forward. That said, he faces some well-bred newcomers, with SHIMMERING SHADOW taken to come out on top. Out of a Listed-placed mare, the Crisfords' colt has plenty of speed in his pedigree that he can take full advantage of. Korsakov, Ayuq and Impasto represent top connections and are worth a second look.

Clarity posted her best effort so far when runner-up over this trip at Salisbury and sets the standard with a rating of 80. Just Scarlet wasn't disgraced on her Newmarket debut behind some smart types and the extra furlong appears to be in her favour, but a chance is taken with DIVIDE AND CONQUER. A 320,000gns purchase at Tattersalls Book 1 and out of a Group 2 winner who made a successful racecourse debut, there is plenty to like about her on paper. Comrade Alexi, whose dam is a half-sister to Champion Stakes winner Bay Bridge, and Stormhaven are others to consider.

Soldier Of The Sea supplemented an opening victory at Ffos Las with a solid runner-up effort at Salisbury and another good account is forecast. However, William Knight's colt may have to play second fiddle once more, with PURE MINT taken to maintain his unbeaten record. The son of Minzaal impressed with his finishing effort on his debut at Ripon and there should be more to come. Brushstroke is the pick of the remainder.

The majority arrive here in good heart and it's difficult to rule many out, with a tentative vote going to the progressive DEBRIEF. The three-year-old made light work of the opposition when completing a double on his handicap bow at Lingfield and a return to 7f shouldn't prevent another bold bid. Aalto arrives on the back of a good third in the International over C&D and he's expected to be in the thick of the action once more, while hat-trick seeking duo Suspicious Mindz and Jonny Concrete add further spice to the mix.

Hickory saves his best for this track and won here again last month, with Spanish Voice back in third. The latter was only narrowly beaten and may well turn the tables on marginally better terms, but it's HARD ENDEAVOR who makes most appeal. Jane Chapple-Hyam's inmate has improved with every start so far this season, culminating with a fine second to the useful Indalo at Sandown in July. This looks slightly less competitive and the son of New Bay is taken to go one better. Classic and Moonfall are others to note.

LUANSOBE remains unexposed and looks to hold strong claims, having finished a close third over C&D on only his second start in a handicap. The runner-up has subsequently given that form a solid look and Charlie Fellowes' charge may edge affairs off what looks a workable mark. Star Of Commala is another with plenty of scope and has to be of interest on her turf/handicap debut. Hambelton is going from strength to strength, albeit over a mile.
