After making a winning start for Jamie Osborne, Room Service could be set for a return to Doncaster and the scene of some of his finest hours.
The winner of the South Yorkshire track’s valuable sales race when trained by Kevin Ryan as a juvenile, he returned at three to add the Listed Wentworth Stakes to his CV.
After a blank 2025, that remained his most recent success until scoring in handicap company on stable debut for Osborne at Newcastle and with that win taking him back up to a career-high of 109, he is now set for deeper waters on his next outing.
The five-year-old holds an entry for the Group Two Park Stakes on Doncaster’s St Leger card, although he could divert to Newbury a week later if conditions on Town Moor are not suitable.
Osborne said: “When winning that handicap at Newcastle he probably matched his lifetime best and was put up to 109 which was where he once was as well.
“Going into another handicap off 109 is probably unrealistic so he’s going to have to be one of the lesser-rated horses in a better race now.
“He’ll either go to the Park Stakes or the Dubai Duty Free Cup at Newbury on September 18.
“The most important factor will probably be ground which determines where we go and on all known evidence he’s a better horse with a bit of juice – the day he won at Newcastle it was hot and the surface was riding slow and that played into his hands.
“But if it was an extremely strong Park Stakes we would probably wait for Newbury.”
