Paul Nicholls (02 April 2025): "He runs in the National and is on a bit of a recovery mission. His owners bought him specifically to have a runner in the National and he has got here in one piece. If he gets into a nice rhythm he could run a nice for them. "

Paul Nicholls (24 February 2025): "To say that this horse has been frustrating is to say the least. He won the Albert Bartlett two years ago and then started off well over fences and beat Grey Dawning at Exeter and then went to Sandown and then ran well in the Cotswold Chase. Since then, he hasn’t run one good race, I don’t really know why. In the Brown Advisory last year, he pulled a shoe off and didn’t run well and then went to Ayr and bled and was pulled up. We did his wind and had a run over hurdles at Wincanton. I thought he would run well be he didn’t and turned into the straight and pulled up again. There is a few niggly problems but nothing serious and to qualify for Aintree he has to run in one more Chase before March 18 and at the moment we are going to go for the Ultima on the first day at Cheltenham. He is going to have an awayday this week and school over fences and hopefully get him back to form. He is looking good in his skin now and we have done a few different things with him. If he ran well in the Ultima, then we would go for the National but if not we might leave it until next year."

Paul Nicholls (21 October 2024): "He had a really good beginning to the season winning two novice chases and he ran well in the Cotswold Chase. The wheels fell off afterwards and he ran disappointingly at the Festival and he was disappointing at Ayr. He was bought back at a Dispersal Sale which was good and he had a wind operation in the summer. He could start in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby and then go onto the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury. He looks great and we are very happy with him."

Paul Nicholls (26 February 2024): "He won last year’s Albert Bartlett, and he has had a good season novice chasing. He improved enormously from finishing second in the River Don at Doncaster before going to the Albert Bartlett and we hope he show that again to run him in the Brown Advisory. He is definitely taking a step forward; he won nicely at Exeter and Sandown and ran a good race in the Cotswold Chase in what was a bit of a muddling race. It turned into a sprint, but he gained some valuable experience against the older horses and at the weights he ran very very well. I was pleased with that, and I would like the Brown Advisory to be run on the New course which would make it a stiffer test. He is all stamina, but he will be a lot sharper than he was on Trials Day. He is going to Kempton to have a little run around with a bumper horse Quebecois just to sharpen him up and put him right. He takes plenty of work and he is quite a laidback horse and keeps finding. He is all ready to go for the Brown Advisory and is a good solid gallop. In time races like the Betfair Chase over three and a quarter miles will suit him well and he is in good shape at the moment."

Paul Nicholls (18 October 2023): "He had been a big weak individual at home and his work hadn’t been particularly exciting, but he was different gravy when he got to the track and won the Newbury novices’ hurdle in which we had won previously with Bravemansgame and Stage Star. He lost out narrowly to Maximillian in the River Don at Doncaster which I thought he should have won and earned his place at Cheltenham. I thought he had an each-way chance, and he showed how good a stayer he was when coming out on top from Affordable Fury. That race may have left its mark at Aintree, but he will go over fences this season. He should hopefully be up there with the best in the staying novice chase division and could start in a novice chase on Haldon Gold Cup Day at Exeter."

Paul Nicholls (27 February 2023): "He is a nice horse and not that far behind Hermes Allen. He won his point-to-point in Ireland and won at Newbury in November. He probably wasn’t given the greatest ever ride when finishing second in the River Don at Doncaster where he got into trouble, and he runs in the Albert Bartlett. I think there is a lot to come from this horse and he is nice horse. He just lacks experience, and I would have like to have given him another run, but it hasn’t really worked. The horse he beat in the point-to-point (Monty’s Star) beat the favourite for the Albert Bartlett (Hiddenvalley Lake) in a Grade 3 Novices’ Hurdle in Ireland the other week and I think Stay Away Fay is one of the best priced outsiders we have, and he will make a lovely chaser next year."
