The 14-times champion trainer kept his seed corn dry for Aintree last year when bypassing Cheltenham with several of his team last season and his patience was certainly rewarded with Caldwell Potter landing the Mildmay Novices’ Chase, Kalif Du Berlais the Maghull Novices’ Chase and Sans Bruit gaining a second successive victory in the Red Rum Handicap Chase.

Sans Bruit returns for the hat-trick bid in the two-mile handicap chase on Thursday and there are several likely sorts in the Ditcheat team this time around that could well get on scoreboard over the three days of the Grand National Festival.

No Drama This End could be a leading light stepped up to three miles in the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle on Friday if the ground conditions allow and there are plenty of positive vibes from the Nicholls stable around Golden Son under Olive Nicholls in the Foxhunters’ on day one. Whilst Viroflay has been making all the right noises ahead of his assignment in the Topham on Friday and there are several others who could be involved at the business end of their races.

Charlie St Quinton, assistant trainer at Nicholls’s Manor Farm Stables, kindly talked Tony Elves of attheraces.com through their prospects for Aintree 2026.
