David Pipe is considering sending Daklondike back to Haydock for a step up in both class and trip in the Peter Marsh Chase.
Having landed the Tommy Whittle at the Lancashire track on Saturday, the six-year-old could now tackle the extended three-mile-one-furlong Grade Two contest on January 19.
Pipe said: “It looked as if Nigel’s horse (Ballyarthur) was going to win, but Daklondike battled well to get past him close home.
“He was very disappointing at Cheltenham, but he is a bit of a monkey. Being back on soft ground helped him, as did the visor.
“The Eider at Newcastle is definitely in the reckoning, but he could easily go back to Haydock for the Peter Marsh.
“We will keep him to soft and heavy ground staying chases for the rest of the season.”
