Clive Cox retains all his faith in Perfect Clarity despite her disappointing run in the Investec Oaks last Friday.

She arrived at Epsom unbeaten and had won a notable trial at Lingfield before heading for the Classic.

However, Cox felt the ground was just too soft for her to demonstrate her true ability.

“She’s fine, the ground was just too testing but she came back fine,” said Cox.

“We’ll just see how she is for a week and make some plans from there.

“You’ll be hearing a lot more of her, I’m sure.”

While Perfect Clarity missed the mark, Cox was celebrating 24 hours later as Connect bounced back to form and he now has Royal Ascot on his agenda.

“The ground is a factor with him, he doesn’t like it too firm and the hood worked,” Cox told At The Races.

“There’s a Group Three over a mile and a quarter at Ascot (Hampton Court Stakes) and I would be keen on that if the ground is suitable.

“He’s come out of the race very well and we’ll leave the hood on as he’s quite keen.”
