Willie Mullins was pleased to see the form of Royal Ascot contender Max Dynamite take a boost when Call To Mind won in America last week.

Only 10th in the race last June, Max Dynamite went on to run a stormer in the Melbourne Cup when third to Rekindling.

A spell over hurdles was less productive, but he was fourth in the Yorkshire Cup last time out, just behind Call To Mind.

“Max is fine and will probably run in the Gold Cup, we’re running for maybe fourth or fifth money,” said Mullins.

“It was good to see the horse that finished just in front of him win the Belmont Gold Cup. We’re hoping that gives us a good chance of placing, but I don’t think we’ll be beating the top two.

“He’s entitled to line up and he’s shaping up nicely for Ascot.”

Stablemate Thomas Hobson is also a likely runner and Mullins feels the eight-year-old, who nearly pulled off a double in the Ascot Stakes and Queen Alexandra last June, has improved since finishing sixth in Melbourne.

“Thomas Hobson is likely to run too. He ran well in Melbourne, we gave him a good break, which he needed,” Mullins told At The Races.

“I think he’s a lot stronger this year, he’s moving a lot better and I’m hoping we can get some more improvement out of him.

“It’s hard to get improvement out of a horse his age, but he might improve.”
