Robbie Power aims to return to the saddle in time for the Galway Festival at the end of next month after the top Irish jump jockey underwent surgery on an old shoulder injury.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National-winning rider was last in action at Punchestown on Wednesday when he was successful on Jack Fiasco for trainer Jessica Harrington.

Power tweeted: “Had my shoulder operated on yesterday to sort out an ongoing injury. The operation went well and hope to be back in 5/6 weeks just in time for Galway.”
