Charlie Appleby is leaning towards stepping Blue Point back up to six furlongs for the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on July 14.
The son of Shamardal gained a first top-level success of his career on Tuesday when opening his account for the campaign with victory in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
And Appleby said: “We’ve not really spoken about it but we will probably be looking towards the July Cup.
“Obviously we have the Nunthorpe ((York) in August if we want to drop back to five furlongs again.
“First and foremost, I was delighted for him to get his head in front in a Group One.
“He has got some great form at Ascot and he still holds the track record over six furlongs.
“The race was always going to be run to suit him and I’m delighted he managed to win.”
