Jockeys Kieran Shoemark and Dayverson de Barros were taken to hospital for further assessment following a nasty incident in the five-furlong RBL Surrey County EBF Novice Stakes at Lingfield on Saturday evening.
Shoemark’s mount Cutthechat fell about four furlongs from home after sustaining an injury and brought down Estupendo, ridden by de Barros.
The two horses suffered fatal injuries.
“Both horses were euthanised and the two jockeys have gone to hospital for further assessment,” said clerk of the course George Hill.
“Kieran Shoemark has gone to Brighton hospital and Dayverson has gone to Redhill.”
