Charlie Appleby is eager to test Ghaiyyath’s Investec Derby claims at York later this month.
A clear-cut winner of the Group Three Autumn Stakes when last seen in October, the Dubawi colt is due to make his return in the Betfred Dante Stakes on May 17.
“He will head to the Dante,” said Appleby.
“His preparation has gone well. He is in good order. We obviously had him in the Guineas, but we just thought we would treat him like a Derby horse and the Dante looked the most logical route. ”
While Appleby has started the British season in tremendous form, Blue Point’s run in Hong Kong last week was disappointing and the sprinter did not enjoy his trip home, either.
The trainer said: “He has come out of it well, but unfortunately he had a bit of a rough ride home.
“It was a bit of a turbulent ride home on the plane. He will have the next week in the paddock with the sunshine on his back then we will look towards Royal Ascot.
“We weren’t going out there thinking we were going to beat those guys as they were good sprinters and the style of racing is completely different. We went off hard and it told. “
