Kachy routed the opposition in the LDF Conditions Stakes as Tom Dascombe registered his first winner of the Chester May meeting with his final runner.

Despite being drawn in stall eight, Richard Kingscote brilliantly anticipated the start and was in the lead by the first bend.

He was able to get a little breather two furlongs out and the race was over once Kingscote asked the four-year-old to quicken, with Kachy (even-money favourite) blitzing his rivals by nine lengths.

All roads now lead towards Royal Ascot, with a possible stop-off at Haydock on the way.

“That’s great for the team as we’ve had a rough week with some bad draws,” said Dascombe.

“Absolute relief is all I’m feeling at the minute. I’d rather have had five win by a short head than one by nine lengths.

“That was an emphatic performance and if Chester staged a Group One over five furlongs he would win it, wherever he was drawn.

“Richard is brilliant at getting them out of the gates and knows what this horse can do.

“We have to think of the King’s Stand now and we may take in the Temple Stakes on the way.”
