Cliffs Of Moher and Defoe remain on course for an intriguing battle in Sunday’s Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.
Last year’s Derby runner-up Cliffs Of Moher finally returned to winning ways last time out for Aidan O’Brien.
Of the 10 remaining in the Group One, O’Brien also has Hydrangea, Clear Skies, Yucatan and Lancaster Bomber, with the latter having finished third in the Lockinge last Saturday.
Hydrangea won two Group Ones last year, beating stablemate Winter in the Matron Stakes and seeing off the classy Bateel at Ascot on Champions Day.
“Cliffs Of Moher, the horse who won the Mooresbridge, will run,” said O’Brien.
“We’ll stay at a mile and a quarter for the moment and then we’ll see where we go after that.
“Hydrangea might run with him, but she’s just ready to start and if she runs a nice race we’ll look forward to her next time.”
Roger Varian’s Defoe has only met with defeat once in his last seven starts, finishing 10th in last year’s St Leger.
Martyn Meade has left in Eminent with Reckless Gold, Success Days and Turret Rocks making up the 10.
