Riding arrangements for Mark Johnston’s Investec Derby contender Dee Ex Bee remain up in the air with just over a week until the Epsom feature.
The colt finished second to the James Doyle-ridden Young Rascal in the Chester Vase on his most recent outing and it was Franny Norton who was in the plate that day.
However, Dee Ex Bee runs in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al Maktoum, who is associated with the Godolphin team and under the riding arrangements they have with Doyle, he could be required to switch mounts.
Johnston said: “Dee Ex Bee will run in the Derby. I don’t know about that (Doyle riding).
“Obviously if Godolphin insist that he rides him, he rides him, but he obviously has an association with the horse that beat him at Chester and he may prefer to ride that if given the choice.
“We will just look at the options. James hasn’t won on him and he has ridden him twice in two of his more disappointing races.
“We will have a chat about it and see what suits everybody, basically, and keep everybody happy.”
