Dermot Weld has high hopes for Romiyna after she made a striking racecourse debut at Gowran on Tuesday evening.
The three-year-old daughter of Nathaniel looked green and in need of the run, yet she still ended up winning a mile-and-a-half fillies’ maiden by six lengths.
Romiyna holds an entry in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh on July 21 and could next test her Classic credentials at Naas.
Weld said: “She’s a nice filly. She’s still an immature sort of filly.
“We’ll progress quietly with her and hopefully she’ll make into a stakes filly for us during the year. Where she fits in, time will tell.
“I thought they went a nice, even pace and she stays well. We’ll see how she gets on, but we like her a lot.
“Maybe the Oaks trial at Naas may be a suitable race. I don’t think she’s ready to take on older horses yet as she’s babyish, mentally.”
