Jaywalk joined the list of impressive winners on the opening night of the Breeders’ Cup with a dominant display in the Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs.
The John Servis-trained daughter of Cross Traffic took the lead not long after leaving the stalls and really asserted down the stretch for Joel Rosario, going right away from Restless Rider and Vibrance.
Servis said: “Her cruising speed is wicked. She just runs them off their feet.
“She handled it really well and when she got to the lead on the first turn, I saw she had her ears pricked.”
Game Winner proved very well named as he recorded his fourth victory on the bounce in the Juvenile.
The Rosario-ridden even-money favourite did not have the run of the race and had it to do get the better of outsider Knicks Go, but would not be denied, despite a bump between the pair.
Baffert said: “Talk about a rough trip. I felt a lot of pressure coming in, as I knew he was a good colt.
“These races are hard to win. We’ve got to keep him healthy (and head to Kentucky Derby next year).”
