Tom Hogan is weighing up the options for stable stalwart Gordon Lord Byron following his fine second place at York.

The 10-year-old was a three-time Group One winner in his younger days, but has struggled to hit the same kind of form in recent seasons and has not got his head in front since last May.

He was beaten a length and a quarter by three-year-old Expert Eye in the Strensall Stakes on the Knavesmire on his most recent outing, however, and a return to York is just one possible option for the popular veteran.

Hogan said: “It’s great to see him come out of York well, he seems good and fresh and wherever he gets a good gallop and good ground, he’ll be competitive.

“We could have a look at the Garrowby Stakes back at York, he’s in the Renaissance Stakes at Naas and there’s the Concorde Stakes at Tipperary on October 7 – there’s plenty of options for him.”
