Michael O’Callaghan is hoping to make the journey from Ireland worthwhile with Usra in the Shadwell Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes at Salisbury on Thursday.
Formerly with Ken Condon, she has been with O’Callaghan since July and finished third behind Aidan O’Brien’s smart Land Force in a Listed race at Tipperary last time.
“She’s a lovely filly to get in the yard and since she’s arrived we’ve just been getting to know her,” said O’Callaghan.
“Her last two races have worked out well, she won her maiden and then finished third in a Listed race, both at Tipperary, over five furlongs.
“She looked last time to be only getting going in the final furlong. Wheat seemed to bring about her improvement was better ground and since she’s come to us she’s done nothing but please us.
“Her work is very good and we’re looking forward to running her in what, in truth, doesn’t look the strongest Group Three in the world.
“If our filly sees out the extra furlong I can see her being bang there given how she won her maiden and the form of her last run.
“On the evidence of her last run I think she’ll appreciate another furlong and the good to firm ground.”
Andre Balding’s Firelight brings the strongest form, having finished fourth in the Lowther Stakes at York while Richard Hannon’s Come On Leicester finished fifth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.
