Fox Coach is set to make the leap to Group Three company in the Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket later this month.
Marco Botti’s charge has won two of his four starts this term, claiming a competitive heat at Chelmsford on his most recent
outing by a neck from the well-regarded Blonde Warrior.
Fox Coach had previously been beaten on his second start by the undefeated Boitron, and Botti believes his form is working out well.
He said: “At the moment the plan is to go for the Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket on September 27 which is a Group Three.
“I thought the Chelmsford race was very competitive, more like a Listed race, and they didn’t go very quickly early on and then it turned into a dash, which probably didn’t suit our horse either.
“His rider said that from when he picked up, he knew he would win and he wasn’t too hard on him, so he might have been a bit better than the winning distance.
“We were a bit disappointed when he was beaten on his second start, but the winner is still unbeaten and that was over six furlongs, and he really needs seven. He looks a mile horse for next year.”
