Richard Hannon believes Urban Icon can develop into a contender for next year’s Qipco 2000 Guineas after drawing stumps for the season.
The unbeaten son of Cityscape, who is a general 33-1 chance for the mile Classic, has not been sighted since following up his debut win at Windsor with victory at Salisbury in June.
Hannon said: “He was entered in a sales race and the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster, but we are going to leave him until next year.
“He is still a bit weak and that extra time off will allow him to strengthen up even more.
“He has got a lot of speed, but hopefully he will be a Guineas horse next year.”
