Astronomer further enhanced his growing reputation as he made it four wins in a row in the Dundalk Stadium – Light Up Your Night Race.
Fourth on debut at the Curragh in May, the Aidan O’Brien-trained son of Galileo has since won at Galway, Bellewstown, and Listowel.
Sent off the 1-5 favourite, the bay colt made all under Donnacha O’Brien and was pushed along from the two-furlong pole, keeping up the gallop inside the last and going on to see off Boho by three and a half lengths.
“He’s a lovely horse. He’s a jockey’s dream as he pings the gates, he lobs along until you ask him, and the second you give him a squeeze he’s there for you,” said the winning rider.
“He’s very versatile and he’s just a lovely horse to ride.
“I don’t know what his rating will be now, but you could look at something like the Cesarewitch because I think he’d stay as far as you want him to, and if not he could go into stakes company. He’s not a bad horse at all.”
