Roger Varian has no stamina doubts about Yourtimeisnow in the Shadwell Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.
The Charm Spirit filly won a Group Three at Salisbury over six furlongs last time out, so is stepping up in class as well as trip for the seven-furlong Group Two.
She had earlier beaten the well-regarded Alhakmah at Newbury, and Varian believes she has the tools to be involved at the business end.
“Yourtimeisnow improved nicely to win the Dick Poole and I was impressed with her attitude in the closing stages,” said the trainer on www.varianstable.com.
“I think she will stay the extra furlong no problem and the track ought to suit her. She will need to progress again up in grade, but she’s entitled to.”
Aidan O’Brien’s Just Wonderful and Mark Johnston’s Main Edition bring the strongest form to the contest but both need to bounce back from slightly disappointing efforts last time out.
George Margarson’s Model Guest is still a maiden after fives races but was placed behind Main Edition in a Group Three at Ascot and the trainer hopes she can reproduce her home work on the track.
“We’ve put cheekpieces on her because she gets to the front and can doss a bit,” said Margarson.
“She travels really well in her races and I can’t she why she’s not putting it all in.
“William Buick rode her at Ascot and said she was the most honest filly he’d ever ridden, but we put cheekpieces on at home and she disappeared into the distance.
“She’s naturally talented, but we just need her to show us that on the track.
“She’s in good form and I’d be disappointed if she’s not in the first three.”
