Frankie Dettori has been snapped up by trainer Michael Bell to partner Pretty Pollyanna in next month’s Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The three-times champion jockey will ride the Group One winner for the first time in public on Tuesday in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes ahead of a shot at the opening fillies’ Classic on May 5.
Bell said: “As far as I’m aware Frankie has not got another 1000 Guineas filly, so he is available to ride for us.
“Frankie has been offered the ride and he has accepted it. That is the situation.
“The intention is to run her in the Guineas as she has been trained for the Guineas, with the Nell Gwyn as a prep.”
Dettori, who will be bidding for a fourth victory in the 1000 Guineas, partnered Pretty Pollyanna in a six-and-a-half-furlong gallop at the Suffolk track on Wednesday.
Bell said: “It was the first time Frankie had sat on her and he said she felt a little bit rusty, but that is normal for a horse that has had a winter holiday.
“We wanted to give her the gallop to blow the cobwebs away. The Nell Gwyn will bring her on a bundle and she is ready to start.
“I would like to see her run well in the Nell Gwyn over seven (furlongs) as there is an element of doubt about her stamina.
“I thought if she was ridden with more restraint in the Fillies’ Mile (when she finished third), she would have got the mile though.”
