Fort Myers made a splash on his racecourse debut as he lifted the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Dundalk.
Out of 2014 Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Marvellous, the War Front colt is closely related to Gleneagles and Happily and he was sent off the 1-2 favourite on his first outing for Aidan O’Brien.
Ridden by trainer’s son Donnacha, Fort Myers kept on well over six furlongs to run out a half-length victor over Never Before, representing Joseph O’Brien.
The winning rider said: “I like him.
“He was just a bit raw in front and having a bit of a gawk. It took a few belts just to get him to let down for me and stride, but once he got the hang of it he impressed me.
“Six or seven (furlongs) will be no problem for him, I think that will probably be his range for at least the next month or two.”
