Ed Vaughan hopes Dame Malliot can make her mark at Pattern race level in Sunday’s Prix Minerve at Deauville.

The Newmarket handler is leaning towards running the daughter of Champs Elysees in the extended-mile-and-a-half Group Three prize rather than the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Give Thanks Stakes at Cork later this month.

After losing her unbeaten record at Chelmsford on her seasonal return, the Anthony Oppenheimer-owned three-year-old made a winning turf debut when upped to Listed company in the Aphrodite Stakes at Newmarket last month.

Vaughan said: “Dame Malliot worked well over seven furlongs on the watered gallop at the weekend and I was very pleased with her. All being well, we will be going to Deauville on Sunday for the Group Three race for three-year-olds.

“She has the entry in Ireland, but I think we are veering more towards the race in France. She should be OK around there and the last two winners of the Aphrodite have won that race.

“The clock doesn’t lie, it was a fast time and we have had a nice boost with Love So Deep, who was behind her last time, winning a Listed race nicely at Newmarket on Saturday.”
