Robert Havlin expects the step back up in trip to suit John Gosden’s Weekender at Newcastle on Saturday.
The five-year-old heads north for the Betway Conditions Stakes, a fast-track qualifier for All-Weather Finals Day on Good Friday.
It will be the third time the Frankel gelding has run over two miles, having finished third in the Henry II Stakes in 2018 and sixth in the Sagaro at Ascot earlier this year.
“A mile and a half is way too sharp for him on the all-weather now, he might get away with it on turf,” Havlin told Sky Sports Racing.
“He ran at Kempton last time over a mile and a half and he just doesn’t have the gear change of those mile-and-a-half horses.
“Back to two miles on Saturday on a galloping track, hopefully he should go well.”
Funny Kid, a winner on Finals Day last season, is entered to make the journey from France.
