Christian Williams will stick to a tried and tested big-race routine with Potters Corner ahead of next week’s Coral Welsh Grand National.
The nine-year-old proved his aptitude for a real stamina test by winning last season’s Midlands National at Uttoxeter.
Prior to that he had fallen in the Eider Chase at Newcastle, following which Williams took him for a schooling session with retired trainer Henrietta Knight.
Potters Corner proved his well being recently when winning over hurdles at Chepstow.
“He fell in the Eider Chase last year, so we took him to Henrietta Knight’s to give him a loose school before the Midlands National,” Williams told Sky Sports Racing.
“So we’ll stick to the same routine, we’ll go to Hen’s next Tuesday and then on to Chepstow.
“He’s got 10st 4lb if Native River runs and even if he comes out the weights don’t go up too much (7lb), so he’s got a great racing weight, fingers crossed.”
Potters Corner is a best priced 20-1 for the Welsh Grand National on December 27, with last year’s winner Elegant Escape heading the market at 5-1.
