Whisper could make his return from a lengthy absence at the Scottish Grand National meeting at Ayr in April.
Now an 11-year-old, he has not been seen since picking up an injury when finishing fifth behind Might Bite in the 2017 King George at Kempton.
He had previously finished a narrow second in the Ladbrokes Trophy and also won Aintree’s Liverpool Hurdle twice for Nicky Henderson.
“Whisper will be back,” said owner Dai Walters.
“He had a touch of a leg after the King George, but he’s on the way back.
“Hopefully he’ll run before the end of the season.
“He might make it to Ayr or he could even go to France for some of the races out there.”
