Connections of Grade Two winner Mr Whipped are hoping to get him back in time for a tilt at the Sodexo Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot.
The Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old will be aimed at the Grade Two contest on February 16, after he met with a setback in preparation for an intended outing in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Ryan Tongue, racing manager to owners Mike Gretch and Stuart Parkin, said: “He just banged himself in the box. We could not believe it, because we were about to declare him for Kempton.
“The scans have come back fine, and he will be sat on next week.
“We are trying to get a spin into him in February, and the Reynoldstown is the only real option.
“If he doesn’t make that then he will have to go straight to the RSA at Cheltenham.”
