Nicky Henderson intends to make the Sky Bet Supreme Trial Rossington Main Novices’ Hurdle at Haydock on Saturday the next port of call for Angels Breath.

The five-year-old – who is the general 6-1 favourite for the Sky Bet-sponsored Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March – will bid to maintain his unbeaten record in the Grade Two contest, having scored at the same level on his debut at Ascot last month.

Henderson said on Saturday: “The plan is to run Angels Breath at Haydock on Saturday. He worked this morning and everything was great.

“It was a bit of a funny race at Ascot as the two horses that were supposed to be his closest competitors (Thomas Darby and Didtheyleaveuoutto) didn’t turn up. One was a non runner and the other didn’t declare.

“They only jumped four hurdles and although he did it well I don’t think it told you a lot, but I do think he is a nice horse, like Birchdale who was supposed to run at Warwick today.”

The Dai Walters- and Ronnie Bartlett-owned gelding is likely to be joined at Haydock by Brain Power, who will attempt to follow up his win in the Grade Two International Hurdle at Cheltenham last time out in what is now The New One Unibet Hurdle.

Henderson added: “We plan to take Brain Power to Haydock as well for the Champion Hurdle trial. He also worked this morning and everything has been good since Cheltenham.”
