Sarah Humphrey feels next month’s Sky Bet Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle at Kempton could be a suitable target for Brecon Hill.
The West Wratting handler has earmarked the Grade Two contest as a potential option after the six-year-old claimed a second victory over hurdles when successfully carrying a penalty to victory at Leicester last time out.
Humphrey said: “We would not want to run him with a double penalty so we will look to up him in grade.
“I’m not too sure whether we will stay at two or step him up to two and a half miles. He could do either, so that does give us a few opportunities.
“I think we would seriously consider the Dovecote as long as the ground is right, that is the sort of race he deserves to run in.
“I certainly wouldn’t want to run him on anything too soft and I think we have been lucky this winter with the lack of rain. We will just look after him and see what happens.”
She added: “He won’t go to Cheltenham, I don’t think, there is the possibility of going to Aintree, although there are other options around then.”
