Strive For Glory could be seen next at the Qatar Goodwood Festival after gaining a deserved success on his travels at Tipperary.

The Robert Cowell-trained colt enjoyed little luck when third in the National Stakes, and confirmed his ability when fourth in what looked a good renewal of the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Always travelling nicely for Billy Lee in the Listed Tipperary Stakes, the well-backed 9-4 favourite quickened smartly going to the furlong pole and kept on from there to score by three-quarters of a length from Air Force Jet.

Cowell said: “We expected him to run well and hoped he would because the ground was better for him.

“He should have really won at Sandown when he got completely blocked off in that Listed race, and it was a really good effort in the Norfolk on unsuitable ground. We expected to pick up on that.

“It looks like we’ll probably go to Goodwood (for the Molecomb). If it’s nice, fast ground there, it will suit him.

“Tall order, but he’s in the Nunthorpe and he’ll have an entry in the Abbaye and we’ll see how good he is.

“He’s a horse with quite a lot of talent and we hope he can keep improving.”
